C owners, what package did you regret not getting?

I got my coupe August, 2001

C7 wasn't out yet so what I didn't know, did not hurt much that time, wish I got the C5 though.

wish i had got the command for my C32...and lose the ski sack...

i realized "what the hell am i gonna do with the ski sack, i don't ski" after i ordered the car, but it was too late. when i want to add the command and drop the ski sack the car was already in production.

lucky i know how to use the regular map unlike my sister... that is why she has command in her 00 CLK320

Sometimes I wish I had got the C1 and C4 packages. I actually called my salesguy to change the order but I missed the cut-off by one day.

Dohh!

I definitely felt bad when I didn't choose C5. They only had one with C5, C2 but it was Bordeux Red.

But at that time I had already registered my mind not to take anything but Orion Blue....

Oh well, guess we have to skin more smurfs, hey Tommy, you got some more leftover Smurfs?

Command option. Any car without it in the next few years is going to stick out as a cheapie since it will end up being standard in most vehicles as the production cost plummets.

C32 AMG, baby! Vroom Vroom! (Actually 215 horsepower in my C320 makes me dizzy accelerating. How much more horsepower and torque do I need?)

C7 for me too. I was too ansy-pantsy though and took one that was already on the lot instead of asking my dealer to search for another. It's pretty much loaded, but I still miss the leather.

Options

Nada! Before ordering, I looked closely at the options and since I was not in a big hurry- (230C Kompressor) was not yet at lease end, I went with COMAND, K2a, C2 and Brilliant Silver. Considered the full leather, but wife did not like the wrinkled effect on the door panels. IMHO COMAND is worth the $ and has proved to be a lot more than a "toy". The voice active feature is pricey, but again is proving to be real value added. Heated seats and Xenon's in SOCAL not considered necessary. Added the bolt on Schatz tips just because I did'nt like the exhaust turn downs.

Even though this is not a package, but I wish I had gotten the Manunal Tranny
Auto tranny is nice too, but little bit too slow on response.
I can't believe souped up civic gets head start at the light.
But eventually I catch up after I hit 30-40 mph.

I just took delivery last night, and can already see the benefits of the C1 package with 2 drivers. I have the C7 and C5 packages. But I wanted an '02, and Houston had C1, 5 & 7, but my dealer was going to charge me $500 for shipping to Dallas and no discount off MSRP- so that option was going to cost me - $2300. Not worth it.

Still, timing is everything and a few weeks before, Austin had one in port but my other car wasn't sold yet.

But I am now getting accustomed to the car and with the extra money saved I have a clear bra, V1 and CD Changer.

Life, I guess, is choosing between the trade-offs.

BTW, my initial impression of just getting comfortable with the car is: How can y'all stand those side view mirrors - they do nothing -- and I guess that is why I am looking at a safety mod - OEM Euro aspheric mirror glass.

When I placed my order, C7 wasn't available yet. I asked about AMG options and was rebuffed. The salesmonkey (er, man) didn't really know that much about the car and seemed almost reluctant to place the order until the cash came out.

After all the harrangings and games they played, I didn't want to change the order midstream and give them an excuse to delay my delivery further.

I would have opted for K2a if the new Motorola phone was available then, and possibly C7. But I was just happy to finally GET the car...so I have no regrets.

(on a note of sour grapes: I'll be a lot happier when I have to replace my all season tires every three years instead of performance tires every year)

Tires

Unless into autocross or serious and reqular cut and dice-the performance tire option gets expensive fast. Compound is like gum rubber with equivalent wear speed. Not to mention the reduced all-weather capability. IMHO not a very good street option. I run performance Dunlops on my Healey for salom and autocross grins-fine for that but ratio of tread life/run time is costly.

Ordering in April allowed me to get all the available options I wanted. An option I'd like but isn't offered for the coupe would be xenon headlights.
