The best colors for Benz (imho) are Silver and Black. Really classy. I did see a desert colored one today (and it looked good!).

I think that, for the ccoupe, the less obvious colors work very well.

I really like the citron green, bordeaux, capri blue, and desert silver. Black, magma, and brilliant silver make the car blend in with the other millions of cars. White and obsidian black aren't bad either.

I'd recommend Orion, but it's gotten too popular, so don't get it.

My advice is spend the money and get what you want. I was cheap and stuck with black. It's fine, but it's not as nice as bordeaux, capri blue, and desert silver which are the colors I would have choosen.

Solid darker colors shine the best but show dirt the most. Metallic colors do a good job of hiding dust but you won't get the intense, see yourself in the paint shine that you would get out black. The issue I have with metallic colors in general is that if you get into an accident, they can never match the way the metallic flakes lay down and in the right light always looks touched up or repainted. Most people don't notice but it bugs me. I have black but I woudn't do it again. I like the silver in the showroom but when I see one on the road it's kinda dull. Also silver is what teal was in the early/mid 90's. That means if you get silver now because it's popular, in 5 years nobody will like it just as not many like teal now. The analysts say that blue is the new silver.

I think Orion is popular depends on where you live, but it's quiet rare in where I live.
I cruise around in DC, VA, and MD area and I see lot of coupes, but i rarely see Orion. In fact i only saw one.

Orion is not popular anywhere except on this board and it's only a small and very fanatic minority. Still don't get it. :p

Subjective

Color is purely a personal preference. This is a small sporty car so I would stay away from Bordeaux or Desert Silver - which are usually associated (seen) with the larger sedans. Citron - will go out of style in a year or two - the basic traditional sporty colors (I think) are black, silver and red. The Orion, being a lighter shade of blue, looks good on this car. Haven't seen the Capri.

But like I opined, it is a matter of personal taste

Good luck

Yes, Magma "Arrest Me" Red will stand up and shout - look at me!

It is also, as my wife put it, very cute. And for safety, people will see it.

If I was in college, it would be black or red.

Also, with darker colors, including the red, you can see the results of your great wax job better - more like a bright mirror - with white or silver or desert silver, you won't get that OMG it's so bright look. Not as dramatic.

If its a dilemma, take some friends to the dealership; those who will share a lot of seat time with you. Better yet, if there is a "significant someone" take that person. It will be a fun time walking the lot picking out a color.

I've noticed this as well. I think when we last conducted a poll this was the second most popular color on here after silver. In my travels however I have only seen one Orion blue car in person (plus one at the dealer). I've actually seen more Citron greens driving around.

Cheers, BT

When I was ordering my C240 last summer, I also had a hard time w/ color. I did end up with Capri /Java and I really like it. I had initially seen Capri/Java but wasn't 100% sure. I went to the dealer's many times to check on colors. I was lucky enough to see Aspen Green, Bordeaux, White and Capri all at once, and that's what sealed it. Capri is very dark, almost black in some lighting. It changes color depending on the light, from dark navy to a purplish blue.

And, Buellwinkle, I'd venture to say although it's metallic, it's every bit as shiny as straight black (IMO!), and almost as hard to keep clean :o.

BTW, Capri is a special order color for the 2002 C230, but it looks like it's a standard metallic for 2003. (It was a standard metallic for the sedans in 2002).

I thought this would interest you. It was listed w/ the 2003 order guide posted by nabzy the other day. I don't know how to link the thread here, but right now it's on the 2nd page, "C Class Ordering Guide". I wasn't sure if you had seen it.

Damn, I hate being so predictable.

No I had not seen it. Thank you! What is interesting, is they are going with wood in the coupe too.

And, while the listing mentions the the c7 package has been eliminated for the sedans and wagans, implying it has not for the coupe, but the c7 is not mentioned under options for the coupe.

Guess time will tell. Hooray for Capri Blue though!

Cheers,

Beth

Actually, for 2001-2002 cars the sport package on the sedans was the C6 package, from nabzy's list it looks like they've eliminated the Coupe's C7 as well for 2003.

So, can I propose a hypothetical question here? Let’s say I do go through with a lemon law suit and get a 2003. Can I have the shifter from the sports package put in a 2003?

thx

Don't have time to look at it again, but I think the two wood choices for the coupe may be options... You have to look further down in the actual option lists for the various models.

You should be able to do what Bos did and have the other shifter put in the car. It ended up costing him $415 for the linkage and 2 hours of labor.

Trench,

thanks!

Well, if I take this route, then, MB will need to do that change as part of the settlement.
