I'd like to see a picture of that. Unheard of, that a brand new AMG C32 muffler is that cheap. Who knows. They might be giving them away nowadays.

Let us know when you get it. & post pics.

I'm still debating what i should do. I figure it'll be about $375 to buy the muffler and then another $50 or so to get it welded on. That puts somwhere in the $400+ range. I could probably get a custom dual exhaust setup for about the same price. Either way i'd probably be keeping my stock rear bumper. I just don't know which muffler i'd use if i were to do the dual exhaust setup. I know frank had one with an OBX muffler and i saw another one on here with a flowmaster but they were probably significanly louder.

The thing is, and this is why I haven't installed it on my car yet - how did you guys cut your bumper? Because I think as you know C230/320 with AMG bumpers are different from the C32 bumper, the cutout for the exhaust is smaller, therefore you need to do some trimming.

The problem is, 2" away from the cutout part is the part that 'secures' the bumper (the folding/curving of the bumper). Therefore, if I cut that, the bumper will become flimsy... So the question is, what did you guys do? Does anybody have a picture of it installed?

Couldn't you just trim it up to that point that secures it and somehow hang the muffler just a tad lower to fit? I think Blake P had an AMG muffler, not a C32 one, but another version on his sedan. I had seen a pic of it and it didn't look as thought the bumper was trimmed much at all. But then again it isn't the same exact muffler.

Yeah, I just want to see how the cut looks and also how they trimmed it. I mean, it could work but I don't want it to look stupid. C32 rear-bumpers are hard to come by.

you should not need to trim your stock bumper with the AMG muffler since the tips angles down before it comes out level.

No, it doesn't. The beginning of the tips start exactly at the cutout hole, therefore, it's too wide to fit -- and if you try to make it work it'll look bad. I think even Dr. Sunil said he trimmed his bumper - not too much, but did. I just want to see a picture of a trimmed bumper ... I was looking at the 2007's (C230) and it looks like the bumper was trimmed.

Thing is, if the Kleemann Trapezoid tip fit perfectly on my 2004.5 rear valance, why wouldn't the AMG muffler tips fit? I think the trapezoid muffler's width is wider than the AMG dual tips, isn't it?

We just trimmed the cutout to better match the shape of the tips, with most of the cutting on the sides. My exhaust was a Euro version of the AMG exhaust specifically for the M271 engine.

So you did trim as well? Because, I'm telling you - my car was side by side with WaveyKat and he's got the C32 Rear Bumper -- the cutout of his car was much wider than mine. Also, I had my car in the shop and they held the C32 exhaust right under my car and showed me that the tips would not fit in the hole, so I know for a fact, a normal C320/230 needs to be trimmed to fit those AMG tips.

I have wanted to install the exhaust and every few months I google rear bumper hoping someone will make an aftermarket trim piece" that you could bond into the bumper after you cut the bumber out to make that exhaust look factory. But no luck. You would think someone would make a trim piece, They could make a few bucks with it.

Body shops can do a little custom work, but it could be a tad pricey. My body shop who is cutting the bumper just feels like it's not necessary, because it's such a small trimming. But if you look at the 2007 C-Class with the dual tips, it looks like they trimmed it by machine, it's certainly not round and perfect like the 06< with the one pipe.

Drex, i think if you look very closely, the rear valance on the 2004.5 models are trimmed just a tad more than the older sport models and luxury models. I'm not 100% on it though.

I think you're right. mig888's stock bumper, when he had it on, I think had a much smaller cutout because it didn't have the chrome oval tip.

Questions about putting C32 exhaust on 05 C230 SS

I have searched the forum and still didn't find what i needed. I have an 05' c230 SS and just bought a c32 exhaust for a good price, but its from the mid pipe back. I wanted to know if it will bolt right up. It looks like it should but it also looks like the resonator is attached to the exhaust. If it is, then I'll have 2 resonators (if in fact thats what it is) and I don't really want that. Anyone have any answers or experince with this. Any help would be much appreciated.

it should bolt right up, and you can just remove the resonator, any muffler shop should be able to do that
