Annoying Dealers, Brake Problem, PLEASE HELP
I just had my 30,000 mile service A done and they have a form that they have to tick off to say that everything is "visually ok". Well I leave the dealership and about 5 miles later I get a message on the display saying "Brake Lining Wear, Visit Workshop". Now I am no expert but could anyone please tell me; if the brake lining was close to wearing out, like 5 miles of braking away, wouldnt a trained technician be able to say that it needs to be replaced there and then? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
p.s.
the idiots also decided to keep my service book (maybe by accident), but I called them this morning more then an hour ago and the guy who dealt with my car still hasnt returned my call. The cars are good, but the dealers seriously need some better management or something!!

no one willing to give their opinion on this?
anyone with any knowledge on brakes, your opinion would mean a great deal here as I am going to the dealer to speak to them tommorrow.

There is still some pad left after the message appears on the screen, definitely should be enough to drive for a few days.
Sounds like they did overlook your brakes during inspection - if your pads are worn out, any tech should be able to spot it right away.

I left my message up for almost two years. Never had an issue about stopping. My brake shoes needed to be replaced after going that long. When they do a service A or B, they measure how much pad you have left. If they did a good job, the dealership should have informed you of that measurement.

As far as I remember, the pads lasted for months after the light came on =)
So I guess they visually inspected the pads and they seem fine. The brake lining warning is probably just a coincidence (Unless you had that on before you went to the dealer).
