After 3 months of waiting, I found out from the dealor that my car had finally arrived. So I take my excited drive to the dealorship to take possession of my c230. Walking out to the lot I spot my car in the corner and run up to it in glee. I then take a peek into the car through the glass and see to my dismay that my dealor had accidentally ordered an automatic instead of manual. F*CK!!!

I was so upset, I left the dealorship completely pissed. Then I got a call on my celly from my salesperson. He not only found another indentical c230 in North Carolina, but this car had the BOSE system that he said he would throw in for free to compensate for my utter disappoint. Moreover, he could have the car in less than a week.

This is what MB service and sales is all about. Thank you Mercedes...

thats awesome that they could fix that for you, and get a better car to boot- if i had waited 3 months and gone to the dealer expecting to drive it home i would have been outragously pissed as well- i prob would have told them to keep it! hahaha

Yep, same thing happened to me.

Although the manual transmission is technically "standard equipment," and the automatic is an option, if the salesmonkey doesn't specify a transmission on the order forms, it will come with the automatic!

Kind of odd, that if the "optional" automatic is not specifically ordered, the system will "order" it for you.

That is probably what happened to you.

At least they looked for another car for you, threw in the Bose. My dealer (Fletcher Jones MB) basically said "F you," refused to look for a similar manual transmission car at another dealer (which would have taken them all of 10 minutes on their computer), and basically said "buy the automatic or get out."

I'm glad it worked out for you, and that you can put a positive spin on your experience. But really, there's absolutely no excuse for an M-B dealer to screw up your order. To me it shows a lack of knowledge or follow-through on the part of your salesperson and probably the sales manager as well.

EDIT: Also, the fact that your salesperson didn't know, or at least didn't tell you about the mix-up when he called you initially confirms that he had a complete lack of interest in you or your car.

To others who are ordering cars, or are waiting for your cars, I've stated this several times previously, because I've learned in the many years I've ordered vehicles. It's important to have the dealer provide a printout of your specific order to verify with you each and every option that is ordered on your vehicle. Not everyone whose car is ordered wrong will have such a positive outcome.

Well, my salesperson explained how he screwed up.

Turns out, the invoice ordering the manual transmission was indeed correct, however he forgot to itemize it at the top. The person receiving the order assumed automatic.

And the rest is history.....

I live in Atlanta, but I bought my car in Birmingham, Al because the sales people at the 2 dealerships I talked to in Atl, basically ignored me, wouldn't look for the car I wanted, and generally pissed me off. The lady at Crown Mercedes In Birmingham, did the whole thing over the phone, searched for the car while I was talking to her, and called me every few days until the car arrived. If only she had known about the mechanical differences between the C7 and non C7, I would have been totally happy.
