smallest wheels/tires on pre-facelift C320 SportCoupe
I have a pre-facelift C320 SportCoupe, 160 kW, some AMG package. The current tires are 225/45 R17 94Y at front, 245/40 R17 91Y at the back.
I want to put on the smallest wheels possible for winter. It seems the smallest stock sizes were:
195/65 R15
205/60 R15
205/55 R16
(source: https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/in.../mercedes-benz)
I've searched on the forum, also studied the monstrous "W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread" but found no conclusion on what would fit on my car.
It's clear that on facelifted cars 17" wheels are needed (bigger brake calipers). Mine is pre-facelift, but it has some AMG package and it might matter.
My brake disc size in the front seems 300 mm (but I'm not sure, didn't take off the wheel).
Can 15 inch rims fit? Or only the 205/55 R16 is possible? In one thread someone said 17 inch was the minimum, but I find that hard to believe.

If you have some AMG package, you may actually have upgraded (larger) brakes.

Also I'm wondering if the dealer can throw some part numbers at you if you give them your VIN.
As your car may have a rare configuration, the rest of us would simply be guessing.

I've taken a photo of the first brake caliper, although I assume if it'd have been helpful, somebody would have told me by now

Your caliper is the normal 1 piston type.

Does that mean a 15" or 16" wheel will fit?
