Interior Xenon Lighting Kit
i did a quick search and found no results, just wondering if any of you guys have these or heard anything good/bad about them???
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW
i've already ordered them, which i guess i should have waited to do until i got some feedback from you guys
, but oh well, if they suck that bad they weren't all that expensive anyway...

Hmm, never heard of interior xenon's before. The only drawback I can think of is that they may be too bright, but I liked the photos on ebay of the white lite and for only $39.99, you really cant' go to wrong.

Seems like they are just "charged" bulbs, not true xenons with ballast and everything. Sounds like its somewhat like the xenon charged headlights. I would say if you like the look, go for it. Just make sure the wattage is right so you dont burn through a wiring harness or anything.

One has to be a major league moron to use HID for interior lighting. Well... Unless he has sunglasses welded to his ears and is 70+ years of age.

thanks for all of your responses, all this talk about the wattage got me worried so i asked the seller about it:
I’m curious though, how many watts are these bulbs and do you know if they are the same watts as the bulbs they are replacing? Thanks~!
his response:
Our Xenon bulbs are specially designed for interior use. The Xenon bulbs generate a greater deal of heat than standard incandescent bulbs, so they are designed at 5W. You will notice a cooler, cleaner look with Xenon in your car.
so how many watts are ours? and do guys think this will cause problems? thanks~!

Could it be printed on the bulbs you want to replace? I know some are. Off the top of my head I dont know the wattage for the interior lights. The only other thing I could think of is if they are alot hotter than the stock bulbs, and its close to some type of plastic I would assume some type of melting might occur (again this is just a guess, not founded on any solid evidence).
Normally sellers also provide pictures of the bulbs themselves (all the headlight bulbs etc...). I wonder if he is going to sell you some type of bulb that is similar to the "SilverStars" sold at walmart etc for the HID look. Another reason I am going with this idea is the bulbs give off higher heat. Using more wattage and/or more tinting to cause color the bulb has (even a light color) the warmer the bulb will get. Thats just my opinion though and like anyone, I could be wrong.
If you do a search on the web for Xenon charged
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...+charged+lamps
They are merely colored lamps, not true HID lighting (ballast, etc). So the brightness that results from HID will not be there, just the color. I hope that helps some! Good luck!

They may not be true Xenon bulbs...
It's hard to tell based on the pictures given, but the light output does not seem any greater. It seems to me that only the color of the light has changed. The light is more white with the supposed Xenon bulb.
In fact, they may not be Xenon bulbs at all. Some bulb manufacturers are using neodymium in the glass that encloses the filament. The neodymium filters out the yellow spectrum...
Here is a snippet from GE's web page on their Reveal line of bulbs for the home.
What makes GE Reveal bulbs different?
GE Reveal bulbs make colors "pop" in a way they don't with standard incandescent bulbs.
Why? The rare earth element neodymium that's in the glass. (It's what gives these bulbs their distinctive blue color when unlit.) When these bulbs are lit, the neodymium provides a pure, clean light by filtering out much of the dulling yellow cast common from ordinary light bulbs.
GE Reveal bulbs come in both frosted and clear glass. I use both but prefer the clear. The glass on the clear bulbs still have a blue/purple tint when unlit. They work as promised. The light is much whiter and more pleasing to the eye.

Regular VS. White
Ok well, to get the real WHITE color look you would need LED Ones which i do have and when i put them in for the dome light....its white, really nice white but the bad things is...it does turn off completely....when i open the door my interior is all white but when i lock my door the Lights "should" have gone out but no...it stays really dim white and never turns off..I've also tried the regular bulbs with the blue tint like the Halogen bulbs, the color was not as white but was good enough compared to the original, the bad thing is...White color lights dont produce as much Lighting as the normal yellow lights do...they are weaker and you dont get as much visible light in ur car as with the normal bulbs...just letting you guys know my experience...i ended up putting back the normal lights...they are way brighter for me to actually look for things..
PS. those "xenon" powered blah is all BS its just a slight blue tint on the bulbs....really cheap shouldn't be paying so much...

I needed a web site the explained how neodymium was being used in bulbs. The GE web site was the only one I could find that had a decent explaination and I have personally used the bulbs in my house...

I went to the car to get some data.
The reading lights are imposible for me to take them out.
Then:
Front Dome + Rear Dome + Tunk Light have: 10W K5618-n4o 42-->44mm
Glove Box + Traffic Plate lights have: 5W C5W 3.7-->3.9mm
The glove box light is a little dificult to remove; you have to open the side of the glove box and then pull + push the entire light.
Best Regards,
Ruben.

thanks a lot for the help rubensans
, while i was able to take off the side of the glovebox and i could see the physical light bulb itself, i couldn't manage to get it out or reach it, the space to fit your hand/fingers seems to small and i dont know which parts in there actually move
, as for pictures, i took a few but it's a little difficult to tell anything, here are the pics. anyhow

i tried taking pictures of the light shining from the rear dome light but all the pictures i took seem to be too dark, it really is much darker than the OEM bulb that was back there, although there is still plenty of light to see things when it's on. anyway, thanks again and i'll upload some more pics. once i get some more of these things installed
