Question is this dealership visit worthy?

if anyone else has this problem or if I am just crazy let me know... my coupe has the rear view mirrors that reflect a greenish color at night from other headlights... this is nice! BUT... it seems to only work on the Driver side and the middle mirror and not the passenger side? Anyone else notice this? If it is just my car that does this I am going to take it in to get fixed... but I dont want to go in if this is supposed to be this way.

it's supposed to be that way. the greenish tint on the rearview and driver's side mirrors is the auto-dim feature which the passenger side mirror doesn't have.

it's not actually stupid. It's mainly based on the fact that the passenger side mirror reflects differently. The dimming causes distortion.

Yes, I don't think it is stupid either. The reason for the dimming is to avoid getting blinded by a car behind with strong headlights. However, I have never experienced getting blinded by the passenger side mirror!

Thumbs down

You sort of wonder sometimes how some people got their driver's license -- or bought a car they don't "understand".

not everyone are into all the little features that comes with the car. or even read the manual.

A lot of people all they care and need is a car that gets them from point a to point b.

nrl1 then others think that why in their right mind would someone post a jackassed message like yours... while at the same time owning an automatic "paprika" colored sports coupe.

The only reason I asked is because bmw has all of their mirrors be photosensitive... so why wouldnt MB

The driver's (left) outside and inside mirrors are auto-dim, but the right side mirror is not. (MB does it this way to be different from BMW. You might want to ask BMW why they don't have auto tilt-down right side mirror (in reverse) like MB does. They'll probably tell you they want to be different from MB.)

Both outside mirrors are heated... can you imagine driving on a chilly morning with one mirror clear and usable while the other is frosted over?

All this is covered in your manual, but I imagine all of you know that?

Not to burst your bubble Bob, but BMWs do have the tilt down right mirror thing.

OK, leave it to a switch-hitter to keep me honest. It must be nice to have one of each. Good catch, I guess. Some time we will corner you and make you tell us which one you like better.

It's been awhile since I read up on BMWs, and I read only about the 3's. I genuinely don't recall the trick mirror on the 3's. Is it available on the 3, or is it a 5-series (and up) feature?

Benzo, testosterone is the only requisite for driving a pickup truck--"bein' a fer piece smarter" is optional. if you flip-flop back into the pickup truck craze as you did in March, you could qualify as a dumb Texun, and move in with the rest of us hicks, whether it be McKinney or Flower Mound.

I think Rev, myself, and maybe 20 others are the only ones in Texas who DON'T have at least one pick-em-up in the stable...

Um (hangs head down) I still have the truck and it in fact has Texas plates on it. Most of my family including dad is from East TX.

LOL!!! That's OK, Benzo, we still care for you, in spite of your Toyo Matrix/pickup truck distractions...

That's a good questions. My wife has a 2000 BMW 323i. I actually drove this car to work yesterday. It is a little more fun to drive compared to the C320. You get the feeling that you can really zip around corners with it. However, overall I like the MB better. It's much more comfortable, it feels more luxurious than the bimmer, and has more "neat" toys in it like the dual HVAC, the back window screen thing, and the "pop" down rear headrests (I still amaze riders with this one).

I can't speak to the 5 or above series, but the 3 series (at least our MY2000) does have this feature. I have a feeling if the lowly 3 series have it, than the others do as well. Where is Young to confirm my comments??

I'm actually playing with the idea of picking up a F150 (or similar...used) next year just to have something for running back and forth to the Home Depot. It always seems like we need Mulch, or something. Would also be good for transporting the dogs places. Then I wouldn't have to clean out the back of the Bimmer everytime we take them somewhere.

LOL. My daughter doesn't feel properly cocooned in the rear seat until she pops up the headrest and puts on her Walkman headphones. If we need to ask her a question, of course she can't hear, so I have to tweek her head by popping down the headrest to get her attention.

A gee-whiz gadget with some practical benefit...
