Question 27" TV should fit in the back of a c230, right?

Picking up a new tv tomorrow (have to use sick days for something, you know), so was wondering if anyone thinks that it won't fit in the back area. I remember that, when I bought my current tv (wayyyyy back in '94, when I moved back to US), it fit easily in my 900s, and it was a 20". So, I'm projecting that out to my c230 and a bigger tv. Any guesses?

Also, any opinions on which are better and/or features to look out for? I'm going to get a flatscreen, but other than that, I'm pretty clueless.

So, I figure my "sick day" will be spent hooking this stuff up, and trying out my Xbox that I got before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, there's no C230 in Project Gotham Racing, but weirdly enough the best handling car that I used was the new Mini.

Thanks for any advise/info!

well, it really depends on the box size - i think it shouldn't be a problem w/ the seats down. thats an advantage of having a hatchback! oops, i meant sport coupe

27" - 16x9 right?

Tommy, if you have the cash, get yourself a TV that is HDTV ready. Then pick up a Dish with a HDTV reciever. You'll be living like a king! The picture on those things is incredible! Personally, I like the Panasonic Tau's(HDTV and non-HDTV). The picture is much nicer(IMHO) than the WEGA, or JVC I-ART. But it all depends on personal taste. I don't know if I'd recco panasonic for longevity seeing that my GAOO just broke after only 7 years. I'm a little disappointed with that.

In terms of options, I dunno. Does sony have a backorder on leather converters?

forgot to mention that if you're going to hook up the X-box to your new tv, you should definitely get a 16x9 tv, hdtv compatible, and a component video cable for the X-box - i hear Halo is truly excellent w/ such a setup.

Tommy,
I normally don't endorse such things, but you should only consider these 3 brand names:

Sony - their flat screen XBR is absolutely gorgeous

Panasonic - PanaBlack is really sweet too

Phillips - I was happily surprised at their perfomance/price

Anything else just isn't worth looking at.(imho)

Is PC Richard's still doing business on Rt 17 in Paramus? I was up that way on Saturday, but forgot to look...

OK, thanks for the replies. I don't think that I'll be getting an HDTV - too much money! I still have to get my winter rim/tire package, and that'll be around $1k. And I'll be in apartments for the next couple of years at least, unless I pull a Menendez on the 'rents, so I'm not going for the best of the best. I'm also starting the cst leather fund soon.

Rick - yep, it's still open, but there are a Best Buy and a Circuit City down Rte. 3 from me, and did I mention that there's a Taco Bell across from Best Buy? Perfect place to read my new "Mercedes Enthusiast". Yeah, the Phillips tvs looked good, and the price is cheaper than most others.

Richard - you can fasten anything with bungee cords, right?

Thanks again!

tommy, take it out of the box, set it on the spoiler (screen forward) and strap it down really good. You'll be able to watch through the back half of the Panorama roof!

Hey, isnt the panoramic roof about the same size as the TV screen ?? If you get the roof-rack option, you could easily fix it to that, facing downward into the car, and with an AC-inverter power it from the cigarrette lighter. As you can see the real problem, would be where to fix the aerial for the TV ....

Tommy--

Please post how the TV fits!

I sold my SUV a couple of weeks ago but--while the buyer needed a day to get a cashier's check--I ran out and bought a 27" Sony because I was anticipating getting a c-coupe and assuming the set wouldn't fit within.

When I bought the TV, the salesguy asked me what kind of car I had; when I told him it was an SUV, he said "thank God!"

Last TV I bought was a 36" JVC (the largest tube size now available -- not a wide screen). Still packed in the box, it fit completely within the bowels of my short wheel base Dodge Caravan minivan (I left he back bench seat at home). Much more utilitarian than any SUV.
