2004.5 C203K Sedan...

Window is down 1/2 way, or sunroof is 1/2 open, when i initiate an Auto-close it closes and then opens back to where it was originally. what gives...?!?! this happens about 80% of the time...

This was happening to me also around the time when I had to go in for my Service A. They said that something had to be reset. Ever since I brought it in, I haven't had the problem.

In essence, they told me that sometimes the computer memorizes movements that trigger the "auto-safety" feature on the windows. Regardless, I told them that it happened very often and sure enough they had to reset the settings in order for it not to be as "sensitive".

The "auto-safety" feature still works when I put my hand in between the window and closing (which is good), but it doesn't do it when my hand is nowhere near the window. If you're still under warranty (which you should be, unless you travel a whole lot and got up to 50,000 miles already). Take it in and they can fix the problem for you.

The reset procedure is in the manual. I have to reset mine periodically. You don't have to take it in. Just read and follow the procedure in the manual. Hope this helps.

Oh S#@! You gotta be kidding me!...LOL...Man, this entire time I thought I had to bring it in to the dealership to get fixed (especially cuz it's acting up right now!...hahaha...Guess it's better that I found out now, so that I don't have to go in and take the extra hour to wait for a rental, yada, yada, yada...

Thanks GGM!

Actually I'm surprised at your answer. With all the advice you've been giving members/noobs on here I figured that you would either search or RTFM first. (j/k) :p

Look in the manual under synchronizing the sunroof. It's not called resetting. I took mine in the first time. They said nothing was wrong (it was an intermittant problem and I just happened to be going in for service). They couldn't find anything wrong. And they never told me about the synchronizing procedure. But someone else on this forum wrote about the problem and I tried the procedure myself when the sunroof and windows wouldn't shut. Works like a charm.

amdeutsch...You are totally correct on this one!

Honestly, the only reason I never searched the forum for this one was because of the "stearlership" telling me that something needed to be reset...so in essence I figured it was a dealer fix and never really gave it a second thought...Luckily this thread came up, cuz even when I read through the manual, I didn't see this. Guess I didn't read the "troubleshooting" stuff too carefully...LOL

Oh well, hey, I'm entitled to be lazy every now and then, aren't I?...LOL

Thanks again guys

Funny, I have an 05 and this has happened a couple of times. In the beginning I thought I was seeing things but now I know other people have this issue. Damn Benz, 5 years in production and still bugs. Will they ever get it right?????????

Well, they gave you the ability to resync if you need to...better than taking it into the dealer to get fixed.
