Which display will we get?

I noticed that there is one display with back lighted numbers and another that appears to be merely painted. Which will the US marketing people let us have?

If we can only get the second one then it's another example of
"big daddy" deciding what is good for us. I have been looking forward to the W204's for a couple years and now i'm not sure it's for me.

I think the two photos are the same - one photo (the one on the left) might simply be a photo of the panel with the lights on?

What do you think of this?

In real life with the back lighting it looks very nice.

I hope you are right. We need someone to turn the lights on and see what the display on the US cars looks like. I sure hope it's the back lit display that looks so good.

I just looked more carefully at the two displays. The first one with the illuminated markings looks great. The second, with the black markings looks ordinary. I really don't believe the second one is simply not lit. The markers are black and you won't get light through there. Sorry.

The markers are black in both photos--the only difference I believe is the lighting conditions. I would imagine a backlit display would be standard across the board not just in certain markets...even MBUSA isn't that out of touch with their consumers!

Will someone who has access to one the demonstartors please turn the lights on and check the display? That will answer the question. As to MB marketing being out of touch, I believe they never check with their customers. They do listen to the dealers who keep telling them to simplify the cars to minimize service issues.

Thanks for checking the display. I really appreciate your doing that.
Now to find out if we will be able to get seat memory within the next few months or even on an 09 mocel.

I was looking through this guide that GPI posted on another topic discussing the LED taillights: http://www.theworkshopmb.com/TheWork...204Chassis.pdf

It is very informative and nothing in it indicates that seat memory or door mounted seat controls will be available. I still don't understand since I have seen several MBUSA press cars (that appear to be US versions) that have seat memory and door mounted controls. I guess it's possible that these were made earlier and they decided that production models don't get them. I am so disappointed if that is the case.

You gotta be disappointed as there is no memory seat option in the official launch.
