2005 BMW M3
New to the forum and interested in C300

Hello everyone my name is John. I have been looking into buying a 2008 C300. I currenty have a 2005 BMW M3 coupe which I love. But I am going to be a father in about a month and dont need to sporty power anymore. I need a nice 4 door car with some sporty looks like the C300. LOL But I love the look of the car and what it offers. Just wanted to get everyones opinions on it. Im not sure how I am going to get rid of my M3 yet and that is a major part of me getting the C300. I first looked at the new 335i sedan but it was way too much money for me. And the dealer really made me mad when they offered me high twenties for my M3. Thats totally rediculous. I am from the philadelphia area, maybe someone can point me to a nice dealership.

2008 C300 Luxury 4matic
Congrats on your soon to be fatherhood If you are looking for a luxury type vehicle but looks sporty, you could always get the C300 and swap the grill for the sports grill.

Well dont they offer the c300 in a sport? And in a luxury? I did go check them out at one dealer to get some idea of what they look like and thats what I gathered from a few minutes in there. Or is there some different kind of sport grill they offer?

John, I'm also new to the board (hi everyone), have a 03 M3 vert, just had a baby, and looking at a c300 sport. Hate to say it but resales on our M3s are crappy. You and I are in the same exact boat jumping from our M3's to the c300. But you should be able to get a bit more from the dealer than high 20's. I have a potential buyer for 32k for my 03 vert, but the dealer is giving me a much lower value. Don't go by Nada or KBB, they're not what the dealer goes by on trade in's. They all use Galves for their pricing. If you want a close estimate go to www.rclexus.com and find the tab with "value your trade in" and subtract a bit from the value you see and that'll be close to your trade in. Shoot me a PM and i'll give you some info on exact #'s im getting for the trade in, and what i'm getting for my c300.

Tony

Hey tony thanks for the response. Well I can see its gonna be hard to get rid of the M3. Honestly I love the car but its just time to get rid of it. I just went on the site you gave me to check trade in value and it said $35,500. Thats not actually that bad or far off KBB. Id be interested in making a deal if I was offered that much on trade in. But high 20's is crazy in my mind. But as far as the c300 sport goes, its a really nice looking car. I looking into some BMW sedans but nothing Im really interested in except the 335i and thats too expensive. Plus I think the c300 may have nicer looks. And its time to try something new. Let me know how you make out with your deal.

Sounds like heresy but did you consider a 328? Why or why not?

Actually I didnt really look at the 328. Not too sure if I like the looks. I had one as a loaner and it drove nice. But I guess Id have to go take a better look at them.

Had a 328 as a loaner too and wasn't thrilled by it at all. And I'm kinda sick of the BMW interiors. The 5 series loaner I had was ok, but for low 50s i'm buying the E350 4matic.

2011 E350 4Matic Wagon, 2013 C350 4Matic Sedan
All these E46 M3s coming up for sale.... where were you guys when I was changing cars. I would have happily "settled" for one if it came with SMG.

I test drove both the E90 and W204 before buying my C350W4M. Loved the weight of the steering on the BMW, but the W204 is much more composed over road irregularities. I went with the W204 for the following reasons:

- The W204 is more livable car
- Price of the W204 is more competitive
- The W204 has more content
- The E90 interior is stark with too many small buttons
- Everyone has a E90

It was a tough decision for me... had the same consideration as you guys here (9 month old at home) but I am happy with what I got.

I'm sure w204 is not going to be anything like our M's. But having a baby in the house makes up for it. Actually looking forward to a more comfortable ride vs. the M with 19's. I'm keeping my ///M3 plate holder and popping it on the C
