Since the Nav is hard-drive based, how is it updated? I asked at the dealer and nobody knew. Do you get a DVD and upload it to the hard drive?

I asked a salesperson this when I was shopping cars and they said they release updates about once a year. He said the update was in the form of a DVD that you insert in the system and it updates the map data on the hard drive.

I have assumed from this that there are not going to be updates available to the public via MB and therefore we will have to have the service performed at the dealer. Otherwise we could probably buy the updates on ebay for cheap. When I asked him how much it costs, he wasn't sure.... I read on another forum that it can cost up to $800! Makes me think he did in fact know.

I just received a mailing from MB offering an updated DVD for my 2006 C350, so I assume they will do this when the W204 update is released. Their price is $199

$200 would be much more reasonable!
