Car tinting

What is the common % tint owners are applying on their new c-class? Aside from all the tint laws in each state or province what are owners putting on their car?

I'm in the process and is considering 20% all around.

Cars with the blue glass option will come out darker

I put 20% on a C55 and got pulled over for too dark tint. The cop had a meter and it read 13%. FWIW

ive tinted all of my mbs over the years as follows:

w202 #1: 35% (green/tan)
w202 #2: 35% (silver/ash)
w208: 20% (blk opal/charcoal)
w215: 20% (silver/charcoal)

im pretty much set on always going with 20% now. now keep in mind when i had the 20% with the tan and ash interiors the tint isnt really dark at all like you can see thru it in the day time no prob. 35% with a dark interior would prob look good too.

now the 20% with the charcoal is pretty much black like its really hard to see into in the day time and at night, forget it, its pitch black. that was the look i wanted and im happy with it

I have had 35% installed all around and it looks great and is still practical.

Is there a 30% tint or does it go from 20% up to 35%? Honey can't decide still on 20% vs 35%. Maybe 30% would be a good compromise. She's afraid 20% will be too dark for her at night.

NY's tint law says 70%?! I mean people are tinting 20%? would they force you to remove the tints if it's too dark in addition to the fine?

I am trying to figure out the % where you can't see through during day time? 35%?

I'm going with 30% tint all around, the dealer is putting ceramic tint which according to their supplier says the only % stock is 5%, 15%, 30%, 35% or higher. I originally wanted 20% all around, I settled for 30%. The only reason I'm doing it through the dealer is, he reduced the price and because it's being done right after delivery of the car to the dealer this week.

Ceramic tint is non-metallic so it won't interfere with electronic devices such as GPS. I had other regular tints on other cars and it didn't really interfere with GPS.

In Ontario, there is really no tint law, but the general practice for cops is that driver is visible through window. Don't know of anyone, incl my friends rec'd a ticket for too dark of a tint.

I've always put 20% tints on my cars. In my opinion, they look just nice(not too dark and not too light).

MBfan21, metalized films may interfere with AM reception and other types of electronic devices such as NAV, GPS.

35% all around on all my cars, not to dark not to clear but if you have a dark intirior go for 20% it will look like 35% and if you have a light intireor go for 35% thats what I would do

I called to get a quote last week and here in MN 50% is the max. They'll go lower if you want, but you need to sign a waiver. I don't want a dark tint so I think I'll just go with the 50%?

Does anyone know what the standard tint is in the US on the windows from MB?

There is no standard law in Ontario as to the %, but the common rule of thumb the police like to use is that they should be able to see the amount of occupants that is in the car. Usually 35% is their tolerance level. My dealer is recommending going with 35% to avoid potential hassle from the cops, I've opt to go with 30%. I've been driving for over 25yrs and all my previous cars had 20% and I've never gotten pulled over for tint violations, nor any of my other friends.

Tint % in GA

Are we allowed to tint the front window (windshield)??

The lower the %, the darker it is? or it's the opposite?

Because in my native country, the higher the %, the darker it is.. My car in there have 80% all side, and 60% for the windshield..

Anyone live in Georgia, US ?

So, we are not allowed to tint the windshield in U.S at all? or are there % for the windshield? I mean the whole windshield, not only the upper part.

anybody here have V-kool installed on their cars?

It looks like in the US and Canada your only allowed to tint the visor, each state has a width max.
