Are there stock restrictions on watching DVD's while car is in gear?

If so...how do i get around this problem?

Thanks!

There is a modification that can be done that allows you to watch Video while the car is In Motion (VIM). The dealer told me they 'know a guy' who can do the mods for $200, but you have to sign a waiver so when you wreck doing 90 watching p0rn you can't sue them.

There's a vid on you tube that shows a new C Class w/ VIM.

Links don't work for me. Although I have no idea why anybody in their right mind would want VIM.

these dont work: they are for eurpoean vehicles and for previous model years. AFAIK there is no backdoor programming or engineering mode on the C; you have to get a bypass module and install it.

Please let us know where you live so we can AVOID DRIVING ANYWHERE NEAR YOU!!

I don't get this obsession with video in motion..aren't there enough dangerous distractions on the road now without trying this silly activity?

Video in motion would be good for passengers, ie my daughter in the back seat. For those who have kids, dvd player in the car is the best.

Yes, its nuts for the driver to watch dvds while driving.

I would still get it if available and not to expensive to tweak, for my daughters sake.

there are lots of over the headrest dvd players, and small portable ones that your daughter could use to enjoy movies while you are driving..

I just took my car to a car stereo place to get my subs put in and they told me there is nothing they can do to make the dvd player work while moving. Does anyone know a place in OC that could do this?

You might have to wait just like us. The car is just too new.

The place that did the bypass for my S-Class also does them for the new C class. Not sure if theres anyone in your area, though.

Why don't you just read the newspaper while driving? I can't believe that people voluntarily distract themselves like this. Aren't cell phones (notwithstanding Bluetooth) bad enough? Front seat VIM is illegal in Pennsylvania as it should be.

For What?!? I hope I'm never near you driving when you're watching the latest hip hop videos while negotiating the highway at 55MPH!

What a freaking moron!

^I’m not A.D.D. I can have something flashy next to me and not have to stare at it... might be hard for you but some of us don’t have a mental disability. Or maybe it’s just that you’re so feeble minded that if a T.V. is on you have to stare at it to appreciate what is on it? No reason for you to bash on people… You might have been picked on as a kid or something but that doesn’t justify remarks like that.

Some of us on this board are a little bit more mature to think we need to watch music videos while driving. Seeing as you're only 18, you're still a minor. I hope your insurance is through the roof (you deserve it). This is the reason 25 is the threshold for insurance companies.

^Now did I ever say I was going to 'watch' the videos? No, DVD’s have a higher quality of sound then cd's... Also maybe people sitting in the passenger seat would enjoy some visual entertainment on those long drives to downtown? Who’s more mature, the 18 year old or the older guy bashing on the 18 year old because he expressed his opinion; also just tried making a joke about 1up' other C-class drivers? Don’t question my integrity; I did nothing to you so why are you going around picking fights and trying to 'gather' information about me? You live in Hawaii, and own 2 high end benz; stop making your life stressful and go to the beach and get the stick out your ***.
