The rain sensor is bonded to the inside of the glass, either OE or aftermarket. My last replacement windshield for my C320 did not come from a dealer and the rain sensor was present and functional.

I can't understand why you didn't go back and have the problem rectified.

Well everytime I went for service, you know how you would fill one of those overnight service cards.. I would always write check rain sensitive wipers to see if they are working and explain the problem. They would tell me everything was fine. Yet I still couldn't get it to work automatically the way it's supposed to when the rain falls. I tried all the different positions on the dial. Luckily i am getting rid of the car soon so I'm sure I will not have the same problem with the new one.

My windshield was cracked by a stone yesterday. My insurance company said they would only use an original mercedes windshield. Just hope the job is done right! Anyone know how long it will take to order one of these from the dealer?

Needless to say, I am bumped.

Does anyone have any idea how much would this cost to replace? Would you do it in the dealership? or your local glass shop?
I get into accident on the W202 C280 1995 and the windshield cost $300 bucks to be replaced ...that is 300 Canadian dollars with State Farm Canada.
Oh...btw...I replaced that with original MB parts.
