HP ratings on the new C
Hey guys...don't know much about Benz's and the new C has really caught my eye.
Can you guys tell me if the HP ratings for the C (or all of Mercedes in general) is measured at the crank or at the wheel? Most auto makers do it at the crank with the exception of BMW (that I know of). I'm currently pushing about 240 at the crank in my VW and need to know if I need the C350 for an increase.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Sorry but all automakers tell you how much power is being made at the crank. I can tell you that the M5 does not make 500hp at the wheels. If it did, it would romp on most cars ever made.
MBZ measures at the crank.

Well I remember hearing that but it must have not been a credible source. Although I did come across this article regarding a 335i dyno that said it peaked at 300 at the wheels. I thought I remember BMW's site having it listed as 300.

Could be a real happy dyno too I guess.
Thanks for the info.

I haven't found any reliable dyno reports on the new C350 yet. I did see a post on another site where a C350 owner said he installed Kleemann headers and Eisenmann racing exhaust and dyno'd out at 325hp & 315 torque at the wheels. He said he killed a 335i. Not sure if I buy that, seems like A LOT of gain for headers and exhaust. But I liked the killing part

I seem recall the 335i putting 300 ponies at the crank and ~275 at the rear wheels. I think the torque was the same at 275 which is fairly impressive since most cars seem to loose 10-20% when measured at the wheels, the 335i is loosing less than 10%.
