Activation of Sirius Radio Issue

I recently took delivery of the C350 Sport, and am loving it!

However, I have not been successful in activating the Sirius radio. Going into the Command Center, selecting Sat Radio, I get "acquiring signal". I can go down to the service selection which displays the Sirius phone number and radio ID number. When I called Sirius to activate it, they tell me everything is working on their end and to call the dealer. The dealer tells me there is nothing for them to do, and to call Sirius. I call Sirius back and all they can do is resend the signal. Still no joy!

Activation attempts have been done under an open sky, no tall buildings, no parking garage/decks, nothing but clear blue Texas sky.

This can't be this difficult. Hopefully, there is something simple I am doing wrong?

My apologies if this have been covered elsewhere. I searched but was unable to find something specific to this issue.

Thanks in advance for any/all advice!

keep trying

DUnno what to say, but keep trying both the stealership and Sirius. You shouldn't be having problems. For me, I called, got the sell in the 2 year upfront membership, bought, and within 30 seconds was unlocked and ready to go. This was in my driveway which does get a signal, but not the best. And, about 18 months ago I had a near identical experience with XM when I activated it with my wife's Honda. Easy.

So, if you ain't got easy, something is wrong and it ain't you (assuming your credit card works). So, I'd keep bugging the stealership and Sirius. To get Sirius' attention call the credit card company and claim fraud, which it kinda is. To get the stealership's attention, bring it in to service and tell them this is the first strike in your state's lemon law progression (assuming you have one).

Take your car to the dealer, ask for a free loaner, and tell them to call you when they have connected the antenna and activated the receiver.

What disappointed me was that my neighbour bought a Chrysler Minivan and he gets 1 years free access to Sirius Radio.

I bought a Benz and I get not even one months free access.

You may want to call Sirius again ... I activated mine tonight, 1yr pre-paid they said (the guy had to look it up). Worth a second call at least.

Hi marakbai:

I read everything about activating the Sirius Radio and I thought why wait for MB, at least, I should give it a try. MB told me to select a 1,2, or 3 year contract and have my credit card handy. Then it said, if you do the activation on your computer, you can save $ 5.00. I thought I give it a try.

Nothing worked and it instructed me to place a call to Sirius. The problem was very simple, there is a free one year contract available and the operator had to look up the authorization number and then he activated the radio. Piece of cake.

I am not telling the Benz boys that I got a free one year subscription. I did show them the Chrysler ad with one year free service and they were surprised. Not at MB they told me.

So thank you for the tip, it worked and the free trial service makes me a very happy camper.

Jorg

Same here. I already had Sirius in the car I got rid of, so it was just a matter of updating my account.

Lifetime Sub

I just logged in to my Sirius account and reviewed the upgrade choices. For a lifetime sub, it is $422.29 instead of $499.99. I don't know if that is prorated based on the 1 month that I've had the service (in other words, will it be higher if I upgrade next month or beyond).

Decisions, decisions...

There's been a $399 lifetime deal floating around for some time and people have been able to get it still. Mine still says $499, but after my 6 months are up i'm sure they'll be willing to go $399 as well.

Called 'em last night to see if I could get the deal. At first he said yes, then he pulled up the account and said that because I had some type of "special" setup, the best he could do is $422, which is the $499 minus the 6 month proration. I couldn't get him to give me the $399 minus the 6 month proration. Drats! I wonder if anyone has had luck doing it?

I finally remembered to update this.
Took it to the dealer, and they had to
replace the satellite radio controller.

Sirius was nice enough to reset my free 6 month

Downside was they had to keep the car overnight
till they could obtain the necessary unlock codes
from, I am assuming, Germany.

Do Not Extend Your Sirius Service!!

I just called Sirius and am very upset!

I paid the "upsell to 3 yrs plan" for $324 when I picked up the car 12/29/07, I never received anything from Sirius, finally I called and got my account number, and when I looked at the MY Account site, there is an "extend Subscription" option, under that there is an Extend to Lifetime option for $422.29 (originally $499).

I called Sirius and wanted to switch to the Lifetime plan, NOPE, once you paid, you cannot change anything except to pay a $75 penalty, and then pay again the $499 regular LifeTime price. The MB sales person did not tell me anything about this LifeTime plan at the pickup, who wouldn't pay extra $98 to get from 3 yrs to LifeTime? even if I am not keeping the car beyond 5 years. $98 for 2 years is better than their regular $9 monthly fee.

After 20 minutes on the phone still no, no, no...

WTF!@!!!

If you have not picked up your car yet, learn from my mistake, do not buy any plans until you get a chance to check what's available. There usually are much better plans offered later than the ones the dealer gave!!!

This really sux!!!

I've heard mb can and sirius will be rolling out 6 free months...and that they will make it retroactive and give people with 08s 6 months added on to their subscription

Automatic registration?

I've had my car since late November, but never got around to activating Sirius (didn't want to, but ...)

I've gotten two letters from MB/Sirius about this, but ignored them.

Today I got a Welcome to Sirius letter. it seems that back on 28-Mar, they automatically registered my car, whether I wanted it or not.

Hey, is this legal? I supposed it is, and I suppose I've paid for it, but I wanted control over this. (I was waiting for near summer to set it up so I could listen to it when I do more mountain traveling and lose the local FM stations.

Hmm.

Unhappy

When I activated my Sirius radio the guy at serius told me I have 15month free subscription..... I had assumed that it was only a 6 month subscription and he said no it's 15 months free!!! Sweet!!! I had only expected 6 months... He asked me to make sure I respond to the online survey that they were going to send me in the next cople days....

When I got the survey I just gave it all "top marks" cuz I got the 1yr instead of 6months.... and it asked me to describe why my experience was good or not..... So I just said I was very happy cuz I got a 15 months subscription instead of the 6 month that I had originally thought...

A week later, I get an email from Serius radio saying that the customer service agant I spoke to made a mistake and that it's only a 6 month free subscription.... should I fight this???? I'm torn on whether or not to argue with them cuz It's a free thing either way... It's not something I paid for so I'm at ao monetary loss

You guys are a bit off task here. He was asking for help on why his satellite did not work. Not about the contracts and payments to Sirius.

I had the same issue that started the thread and have since fixed it. I was also given the back and forth from both MB and Sirius when my unit kept saying "searching for signal" or "call for activation" it even said "updating channels on occasion".

My solution was to call the Sirus people from my MB bluetooth speaker while sitting in the car inside the service center. At this point my service rep from MB heard the phone call and he and the Sirus staff got together on my phone and found the problem.

The issue was with the antenna that was on my Benz and nothing to do with the satellite provider.

Hope this helps.

When I took delivery, my salesman activated the Sirus satellite radio for me. The process was simple and painless with 1 phone call. Received a 6-month free subscription too.

Got a subscription through email today; gave them top marks. Hopefully, everyone is happy.

My 6 month free trial from MB and Sirus expired this week. Upon calling Sirus they said that today only they were running a special where I got 6 monhs more free. I called to renew and got 6 more free months. You may want to call yourself.

I bought my receiver after market and had a guy install it. We were getting the same signal problems after installation. After 3 calls to SIRIUS, a rep finally said the BLUETOOTH has to be OFF. The signal they send cant go thru if bluetooth signal is on.
Turned off Bluetooth, signal came right thru.

Your avatar info says you are driving an S500 so why you are asking this on the W204 list is puzzling. And if it isn't an S500 (which would be 2006 or earlier) please reveal what it really is and which package you bought.

On a W204 with MM (which you don't have) this theory would mean that you could not listen to Sirius if you ever expected receive a phone call.
