Did you attend any type of school? or just went to work?

Just asking not being an *** just seems surprising to me

Down under a more mature driver seems to buy the C Class. This is my first MB . Age 61. Retired power station operator .

List of Previous vehicles:-

1951 Wolsley 6/80 . Made in England. Max speed 80 mph -86 mph with muffler removed. Double overhead cam, twin 1 1/4 inch SU carbs. Cost A 80 pounds.Bought from my uncle ,all the rings were in the sump , 70 psi oil pressure . Used 4.5 gallons of oil in first 600 miles before replacing engine myself at 17 years of age then dropped v/v into piston.
1965 Holden ( GMH) Utility. Rusted out
1968 Holden Utility.
1958 Holden Utility.Rusted out
1970 Ford Falcon Utility.
1973 Leyland P76 V8 ( Buick motor) Was called a P38 ie half a car as it fell to pieces.Rusted out., 2 piston skirts fell off. Replaced internal voltage regulator twice.
1979 Peugeot 504 . My most honest family sedan.Very advanced for period.
1994 Peugeot 405 diesel . Very reliable & cheap to run.Min maintenance.
2008 MB C Class 220 CDI. Very well put together , Does not ride as well as Peugeot 405 but better handling. Achieves the same overall fuel consumption. ie 48 MPG ( Imperial gallons)

63. The answers are slanted toward youth more due to the age of typical forum users than due to this particular model of car.

+1 That's exactly my situation. Graduated in May and live by myself and pay for everything. It was really a matter of priority for me...do stupid **** when i was young or get to school and get a good job to be able to give myself the kind of life that I wanted. As you can guess, the latter was the more appealing decision.

Bought my 1st c-class at 19 brand new.

both on my own.

Bought my 1st jeep when I turned 15. Paid 10,500 cash. I didnt have a payment! It was great. Although I love my car, and whether I have to have to drop the $ or have a payment, it's so worth it!

2016 C450 AMG, 2012 C350 4Matic Sport
Well, as a newbie here, seems like an appropriate thread for my first post...

49 years young, not a MB owner yet, but seriously considering a C300 or 350 4Matic in March when the lease on my TL is up.

I admire the younger crowd for being able to afford a car in this price range - as long as they're looking after their other financial needs at the same time and not pouring everything into their cars. Sounds like a lot of you guys and gals are doing it right. Of course it helps to be earning at the same level as some of us who've been working for 30 years

My previous drives:

79 Honda Civic (good reliable basic transportation, and lots of fun to drive)
85 Honda CRX (still have great memories of this car)
92 Mazda MPV (yep, that's when the kids were ankle biters)
96 Honda Civic EX
00 Mercury Cougar V6 (surpisingly decent car for a domestic)
05 Acura TL 5AT w/Navi (great car - lots of bang for the buck)

Wife's drives
86 Nissan Pulsar
00 Ford Escape
05 Ford Escape
08 Mazda CX7 Sport

I almost wet myself laughing while reading this yesterday and now I'm at it again today.

A Wolsley? God, that's even worse than a damned Austin Marina, one of which came across three lanes just to run into my stopped MB250, long ago.

4.5 gallons of oil in 600 miles? Solved the insect problem for miles around, I'll bet.

Peugeot. Long ago a friend bought a 403. Couldn't kill the thing and it had a pretty good ride but all that French plastic inside looked like hell. And I think the 505 diesel killed the US Pug market.
