November orders
Just curious what the status was for those of you who ordered in November...
I ordered mine on 11/2/07 with a build date of 12/11/07 which was pushed to 1/15/08. I probably won't see my car until late Feb as it stands.
I ordered a C300 Sport with P2, MM, Pano, AMG wheels, Teleaid, iPod, Automatic, and leather.
The wait is killing me and to be pushed another 5 weeks ... ugh! I figure the MM and the AMG wheels are holding up my build date.
Anyone else get pushed?

The www.mbcanada.com "insiders" website says there are problems with the factory delivering Sports package models:
Dec 12/07: Just to keep you informed...
We are still having major issues with code restrictions on the C Class, S Class and ML and GL class orders (March production). The C Class orders from 2nd and 3rd decade January are still messed up because of the Sport Package. The S550V4M orders from the 3rd decade are pushed to February because of code 413. The ML and GL orders for the 3rd decade March are pushed into April because of restrictions on code 846. Please be aware that we are working with the factory on all these issues and we are trying to get our orders booked into the decades they were intended.
(Decade - Each month has 3 series of 10 days, so the 2nd decade is the 10th to the 20th of the month)
regarding the website:
We are a group of MB Insiders discussing the issues that affect the sale of Mercedes-Benz cars in Canada. We are currently working on a public section of the site which will be opening soon. Here you will get access to vehicle costs, finance rates, finance costs, hidden kick backs, and real U.S. to Canadian pricing differences. We will have unbiased reviews that inform you of the ups and downs of each model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. So stay tuned... our Insiders will help you with any questions, or problems, you may have.

I ordered mine in the second week of Nov and my dealer called last week to tell me I have a build date of 1/22. Anybody know how long it takes the boat from South Africa?

1. My car is being built in Germany
2. When we placed the order, he mentioned that there was an exact match on the order list and all we needed to do was change the color and put my name against it. He said thats why I got a build date of 12/21 for an order on 11/27.
Hope she is being taken care of as I write now!!

I found this old link about tracking the car after it has been built (and assigned a VIN number):
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=29694&t=24549
I am not sure if this is still valid.
(You can see that I am getting impatient day-by-day!!)

I hate how i have to wait 3 fricken months for a c350. its not a porsche 911 for crying out loud. I ordered mine in mid november and dont have a build date until 1/30. So i dont expect mine until mid-late february. well, at least maybe the weather wont be so bad then so i dont have to buy winter tires. but, still...3 months?

I hear ya. That was my sentiment exactly. If it gets delayed any further, I'm cancelling and ordering an 09 in august with all goodies. Not only that, the depreciation on an 08 bought in 08 has to be worse than an 09 bought in 08. Not a huge factor, but nonetheless, a factor.

I ordered mine on October 28. When I checked with my dealership earlier this month, on their paper showed starting built date was 11/29/07. Checking again today, they said their record shows that the car went into production on 12/24/07....WTF. I'm supposed to take the delivery by the end of January......at this point I don't think that's going to happen......sigh.....my sale guy kept telling me that it will be here on time. I just don't see how my car can be shipped from South Africa to Honolulu in less than a month.

would agree
South Africa to Hawaii in less than amonth, including customs, prep, etc.? doubt it. But, I wonder if they sailed east through Indian ocean and Pacific how much time they save?
Anyway, I'd be a bit more worried about the conflicting build dates. I took mine from on-hand inventory, but everyone who ordered on this board pretty much has the same story: build date is pretty much set in stone (give or take a day or so) as allotments/slots are pre-determiend and thus the build-tracking stuff is pretty accurate. the only issues are where the dealer is just too dumb to get it right or if they "sold" your car to another before it ever arrived. Which is why I'm curious about the November build date offered and then a whole month later a new build date?

**** man...im beginning to believe my sales rep changed my build date so she can spread out her sales esp in january, where not too many people buy cars.
this wait is making me think too much - lots of conspiracy theories. lol

I guess it's time for me to wake up and start shopping for alternatives. I'm really not happy with my salesperson.

I've been waiting for this car for too long. Eventhough I've heard lots of complaints about our local dealership, still, I was willing to deal with that. I have to say that my sales guy really had to work hard to turn a customer like me away. Today, I finally made up my mind and purchased infiniti ex35 instead, totally different buying experience.

They would rather see me buy in Jan.
I even told him i'm ready to buy now, most dealer would jump on this and start giving me numbers and throw out lines like "so what can i do to get you in a car today" Really weird experience, then again I never shopped a car at year end.

I placed my order thru Pleasanton Mercedes...so right up your alley. If you order, and they reserve your allotment, they should be able to tell you right away if it's a german or sa build.

i visited both Oakland and Fremont dealers, they all have German builts in the lot. i dont think it would make any difference in quality and workmanship German vs SA built. i bot it because of yearend special, salesman gotta make up their volume for the year.

it reads to me that this is the first time the SA plant will ever have assembled left hand drive cars:
http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Sep07/1...th_Africa.html
why they can't make these cars for the US market, in the US, is beyond me.
