How do you use the PCMCIA slot?
I am just wondering how do you guys utilize the PCMCIA slot? do you get a PCMCIA adapter for your SD/Compact Flash/memory stick memory cards?
I mean PCMCIA memory isn't that popular around here...

I picked up a PCMCIA adapter that supports the newer SDHC cards. They start at 4GB and go up from there. I don't have my car yet, but fellow users were saying that the card reader can stay installed in the dash the it's easy just to swap out the memory cards. Not sure what speeds are supported, but I picked up a Class 6 card (up to 6MB/sec).

If they wanted things to be subtle and minimalistic they would've put a 32gb solid state drive in the computer with simple 802.11g access. When the car comes to a wireless network you can tell it to join and it'll automatically setup a samba sharepoint for it's drive. When you get access to a computer you just open up the samba share (linux, windows or mac, all three work) you can just dump your music onto the drive. Lossless or lossy, there is a software decoder in the car.
Or they could give us a useless slot where you have to buy an adapter.

while you are at it, why not have a slideout keyboard and use teleaid network for internet access? wait, why not direct the AC duct passthrough the cup holders to cool or warm beverages.... pop the hood and install a "radiator" oven for heating up your hotpockets.... throw in a bucket seat in the back and vaccum suction pump that will dispose bio waste and you will never have to leave the car.....
I dunno if I'd buy it, but it'd sure be nice as an option.
Heck, at the very minimum I would just support the ability to have .flac's on the card that goes through the adapter

I have been looking everywhere for this Sandisk SD-HC 6-in-1 PC adapter, only the standard SD version remains available, the SD-HC version seems to have disappeared.....

Just saw them again at Best Buy. The *packaging* on mine (SDAD-67-A10) only says SD and does not mention SDHC, but if you look on the adapter itself you will hopefully see the SDHC logo. Good luck.

No, just MP3 files. Oh, and the files don't get transferred to the HDD, they stay on the memory stick. The only way to transfer music to the HDD is the record function on the CD menu.
