Hi all. For any of you that have the MM system, NewEgg is having a sale on a lot of their flash memory cards and free shipping to make it slick.

Linky

I just picked up a 4GB SDHC Class 6 for $13.75 after $6 MIR.

They also have an 8GB Class 6 for $36.

SanDisk PCMCIA card reader model # SDAD-67-A10

It seems like there are two different versions with the same model number "SDAD-67-A10" I suggest buying it in person and making sure it has the SD-HC logo on it. If you order it online, just make sure it's listed as supporting SD-HC. Only HC (High Capacity) cards can go 4-32GB. Earlier versions of the same card did not support SDHC.

I have tried for over a week looking for the SDHC version and none was found either online or in the brick-&-mortar stores....

I tried Bestbuy, Circuit City, Office Depot, Staples, CompUSA ... NONE!!

it seems that this PCMCIA slot without that adapter is useless!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what to say. I've seen them at both Circuit City and Best Buy here locally, but not on the web site. They're easy found on the net (search pricegrabber.com or similar site) but the problem is the images and descriptions they have are of the previous version which did not support SDHC. More than likely they don't have those anymore and they actually have the new ones but be prepared to return it if needed.

Krytech...do you actually have it working with an SDHC card in your car right now? I've been looking all over the web for an SDHC capable adapter and i absolutely can't find it anywhere! I sent Sandisk an email asking if their card is compatible with SDHC and they never responded. The slot is useless if you're limited to a 1GB card. Here's the description taken straight from Sandisk's website:

SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter
SDAD-67-A10

Price: $29.99

Turn your SD™, MultiMediaCard™, SmartMedia™, Memory Stick™, Memory Stick PRO™, or xD-Picture Card™ into a PC card with the SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter. It’s quick, and makes it easy for you to transfer and store more of your world on your PC.

Advanced Features:

* Read and write (with capacity limitations) to SD, MultiMediaCard, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, or xD-Picture cards
- SD (up to 1GB)
- MultiMediaCard (up to 128MB)
- SmartMedia (up to 128MB)
- Memory Stick (up to 128MB)
- Memory Stick PRO (up to 1GB)
- xD-Picture cards (up to 512MB, none M or H)
* Works like a removable hard drive on any computer or notebook with a PC Card slot
* Rugged and reliable with a protective stainless steel cover

Yep, just picked up my car today. Works great.

I haven't seen one online with the proper description. More than likely if you buy it from a popular online store you'll get the new version that supports SDHC. It's SanDisks stuipd fault for updating the adapter and NOT changing the model number.

I was as BestBuy last week looking for a USB SDHC reader and saw the 6-in-1 there again. The actual packing states SDHC support if you look at the logos on the adapter. You should see SDHC on it somewhere if you look at it in person. Again, if you are buying online, you'll need to roll the dice a little bit because I haven't seen an updating description or images yet.

Good luck!

I remember buying a no-name 8MB PCMCIA card for my HP Laserjet 5L (still up and running ) for like $90 back in 1999, the OEM HP 8MB was like $270 if I remember correctly. At the time I I thought I was balling as 8MB was the most the the printer could take.

The advances made in flash memory in the last decade are crazy. Just imagine the kind of toys our kids and grandkids are gonna have. Remember when digicams used to accept floppy disks?
