Door rattle and wind noise - anyone else?
I've had my C300 sport for four months and recently my drivers side door rattles when I close it and there is signifcant windnoise from my rear passengers door when I hit 60mph+. Does anyone have these issues? My dealer has been unable to locate the exact issue? They are going to replace my door seals, but they don't even understand if that is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

I heard a slight rattle as well until I realized that is was actually my sunglasses in the little pocket at the bottom of the door.
The solidity of the door is a MB trademark (remember the commercials) so I would definately get it checked out.

My front doors rattle when I close them ... I think its' the mirrors. Mine vibrate visibly on the freeway, and I can watch them vibrate as I shut the door.
If I hold them while shutting the door, rattle disappears. Dealer tried fixing, at 1000mile service, but didn't help. I'm waiting for the dealer to see more of them before I bring it up again.
People here love their Merc Myths though, so be prepared to be told that it's not possible for a mercedes door/car to be anything but bank vault tough. I posted about it months ago and was ridiculed because I dared question the integrity of the mirrors.

Now that you mention it, I did notice the issues in early October...when it started to get colder....could it be because of the cold? Materials shrinking?
I think it may be the mirrors as well...i can visually see them moving when I close the door.
As far as the wind noise goes....this started to happen about 2 weeks after I picked up the car...it seems that it started immediatly after someone opened the door for the first time.
I am honestly pretty fed up with my dealer's service department. Something has definetely changed since I purchased the car and they keep telling me that nothing is wrong. Should I try another dealer?

It's so quiet most people say it's the first thing they noticed when they sit in my car?! or maybe it was because I was not moving?
Seriously, it's even quieter than my previous Acura TSX... on the highway.

I definatly agree with Derspeed. I think it's becasue of the new door seal design. My old C220 was quieter than new C300 as far as door wind noise at high speed. It had the type of the seal that evenly fills the gap between door and upper body frame which gave the smooth surface. However, New C class has the door seal that covers and overlap on the upper body frame leaving the thick rubber edge exposed. Plus, there is a small gaps along the silver trim molding above the door line which I think add to more wind noise. I am wondering what is the purpose of those gaps for??

I have to disagree. I think that the wind noise is quite excessive!! Even when I'm talking on the BT phone in the car, people are always asking me WTF that noise is. If everyone on this forum isn't agreeing, than maybe there's some sporadic defect that is only affecting some vehicles. It's probably my biggest complaint at this point.

My door shut solid, the only noisy part is the sunroof and the sunroof cover. The sunroof cover makes wobbling noise whenever a door is being shut. However it doesn't have that solid 'thud' my previous C class has, different kind of sound.
It's much quieter than my W211 on the highway and super smooth.

I've got significant wind noise in my car, right side rear passenger window frame area. It is completely annoying, esp on a long trip. I was going to put various blue painters tape over the select weather strips to see if I could make it go away and test it at different speeds so I can tell the dealer exactly which weather strip to replace.

So many of you have heard the wind noise from the right passenger side window, is it really loud like the window was partially open??
I turned off my radio this morning but couldn't really hear it, other than the "normal" level of wind noise...

I have been telling my dealer (MB of Fort Washington) about the wind noise I hear in the rear passenger window area, ever since I picked up my C350 in late November. I went for a drive with my sales person in December and he was telling me it was the large side mirrors that were on the car. So I told him I didn't beleive him and folded in the mirrors as we were driving. It was amazing that the noise was still there and his theroy was bull sh**!!
I would really like this problem addressed. It is my only complaint with an otherwise awesome car.

To me, it sounds like either I didn't close the door well enough or there is a slight crack in the window. I keep checking the windows when I drive to make sure they aren't down. I sometimes roll the window down and then back up again thinking that it might somehow help. To no avail....
