took my c300 4matic out today in T.O., steady as a rock.

a few weeks ago before T.O. thawed out, do any of u remember there was a huge snowstorm, dumped snow that stayed for weeks. i went out the evening of the storm to grab some food. i just had my new dunlop wintersport 3D's (from tirerack) installed, esp light only came on once .. and that was only after hammering it down an empty street, caught any spin instantly, very impressed.

Peabers, drove into work today, snow was heavy comin' home tonite but new snow tires held up great. Just have to watch hard acceleration at high speeds or turns or you'll tail spin, but thats probaly the case with any snowy or icy conditions.

T.O Snow today

I took mine C300 RWD with Pirelli Winter 210 sotto zeros today for a run between my home, my child school and office.

After dropping the kids off, when to empty parking lot and do a drift and spin with ESP off and On just to test understand the reaction and handling of the new tires.

I don't know.... i got fish tail like crazy after I shut off the ESP but with ESP on.... seem ok but not great...and need to be on C mode instead of S mode.
for some reason the S mode make the acceleration slippery...maybe the tires problem.

I found out that my old W202 C280 1995 with Michelin x-ice perform better than the Pirelli with today 4 cm of snow in Richmond hill Area. That old car do not have ESP at all.

C does better in snow than S because C starts the car in 2nd gear whereas S starts it in 1st.

I did the drive, the roads were empty! C handled like a dream, yet again ... really no complaints. I even went through some tough Toronto side streets that weren't cleared.

Today I took the Stability control off, put it in S and floored it (in an empty snow covered parking lot) ... man was that ever fun ... made tons of tracks and skids all over the place ... the best part was seeing my car reflected in the building nearby, it was like watching an episode of Top Gear! (well, almost, I'm still a newbie)

They musta done something about the traction in the w204, my wifes 07 w203 even with studded winter tyres handles like a pig in the snow, traction is terrible, I prefer driving our 07 Golf, it's a much better winter car.
