<<There new C has been getting great reviews and sales has been very good >>

Better not read the recent Wall Street Journal review. It will make you angry.

2008 BMW 335i Coupe (Six-speed Manual)
First post

Hi, I joined this website to do some possible research on a C350 Sport, especially since I heard the 2009 SLK 350 engine is going up to 300 HP.

Anyway... some Benz history... we used to own a who-knows-how-old two door black-on-tan coupe, with black wheels. Then my mom's first car was a 190E (don't know how old); in high school and some college I used to drive a 1988 300E until it would just shut down completely at stop signs. I got rid of it when it just shut off in the fast lane on the freeway.

I own a 350Z and just wanted to trade it for something nice. I love it but when the new C-class came out I was surprised their little car was so attractive. I also wanted something a little more usefuly as DD as I modded my car somewhat that comfort was sacrificed. I just want to get something that's nice and leave it alone.

Just reading the comments here... if removing the memory seat option makes the car a little more reliable, I wouldn't mind. I never used them on my cars or my parents' cars anyway. Their car has navigation too and all this other electronic junk and we don't even bother using any of it.

i2agree.

However, if the '09 C300 was equipped with a laser beam that melts faces... I would definitely pony up the cash and use it on a daily basis. pew pew pew!

Gosh, it's weird seeing complain about the lack of memory seats. It wasn't ever a consideration for me, since I'm single, and no one gets to drive my car except me.

Must be interesting sharing a car with someone else, but personally, even if I had a partner, we would have separate cars.

Maybe you should consider a nice $60k car, since you are sharing it, you could significantly increase the price (2 incomes right?)

No, one income. Don't assume anything. This isn't about "sharing cars", but frankly if you and your "partner" will always have separate cars that you will not share with each other, well that's not much of a partnership. Certainly not a marriage - and don't think about kids, OK?

I have a nice $60k car. But, to say that you should spend $60k just to get memory seats is pretty ridiculous. Only MB would come to that conclusion. Do you work for MB?

The point is that MB screwed up, and fortunately they have now admitted it. I got an email from MBUSA yesterday. The email states:

"In regards to the memory seat issue, Mercedes-Benz is always considering customer feedback regarding our products. In fact, it was customer feedback like yours which led us to the decision of bringing back memory seats for the C-Class starting with Model Year 2009"

Good News !!!! Seat and Steering memory will be available on the 09's. I didn't find out if there are any other new items on the list.
The 09's are due to arrive in the US by August with builds beginning in late June. I got this from a very reliable source, not from a salesman.

We should all quit giving suggestions to MB then cause now we'll have the only C-Classes with no memory seats.

Great news. I can't see why they would have removed this feature in the first place. One of the classic elements of a Benz is memory seats with the controls on the door with the 1, 2, 3, next to them. This has worked for over 25 years no need to re-think the feature of the position of the controls. I'm guessing that with seat memory the seat controls will be moved back to the door like they are in every other C-Class market. Someone at MBUSA needs to be let go. All this advertising for the C63 AMG and isn't even up on their site yet!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous.

That is great news! My wife and I like our 2006 C230SS and we are planning to replace it with a 2009 C300 SS.

We enjoy the memory seat in our C230, and that is a must-have feature for us.

Thanks for the news

With best regards,

memory seats are a good addition to the equipment in this car.

Oh, MBUSA, if you're listening - how about those direct injection engines? $3.50 gas is here, and your MPG numbers ain't so great.

I think we can get everything we wanted as long as we are willing to pay it for.

Loves seeing all of your palladium silver but I could not buy it here at local MB. They only have either black or silver. But they did offer me to import Completely Build Up from Europe which will be priced about 10% more. Plus I could add (yes, not free) any option that is available from MBHQ. I give it up this freedom because the locally build C230 w/AMG package already cost USD80K.

On different subject, the sport suspension thing that lowered the car by 1.5 cm, is this by a push of a button like in the S class or it has been defaulted to sit lower forever?

Go to their AMG site. It's there.

Now somebody needs to tell MB to put a manual transmission + 300 HP engine into the C350 sport instead of wh*ring out the old 3.5 engine. Maybe it will coincide w/ the sport coupe; I don't know.

I'm talking about the build your own and general information on the C-Class page at MBUSA.com The real AMG site is always updated more regularly.

Oops... MY08 USA W204 resale value drops 30% now that MY09 gets memory seats

Well, still better than Bear Stearns.

Drop in resale, maybe MBF will cut my buy price at end of lease then. fine by me. ha-ha.

Nah, I'd love memory seats, but I think I can still love the car.
