no, this is not the C and S that you would find next to your shifter. This is actually called "advanced agility package" that changes and tightens suspensions for better handling, not just changing shift timing. Its been available to Euro market since w204 introduction, nothing new. Except only to us.

Okay so I talked to an MB rep that just got out of a training/meeting about the future cars...
The 2009 C-Class will be the same as it is now. The 2009.5 (second series) will have two changes.
#1 - It will include Memory Seats (Im sure its an addition option thought)
#2 - Configuring the Steering wheel will be powered instead of manual.
-- I asked about keyless go, shift paddlers, and etc and his response was that they don't want to add too many options because it start cutting into the other models like the E class and even the C63 will be impacted as well.
this is according to him...I dont know how true it is but it sounds pretty understandable...
So do you think its a good Idea to get the C-Class this year?

so now you won't be able to get memory seats until the 2009.5?
I'm headed to the Infiniti dealer this weekend I guess, I just can't keep waiting for MB to get their act together.

i think the dealer told me that the ML and GL are built in the US because there isn't a big demand for them in Europe, and they are using the Chrysler wheelbase. So it is cheaper to built them in the US. As far as C Class is concern
they said they are all built in Germany
at least all the cars to Canada is from Germany

Is the C is built in Germany....
Anyone knows what is going to be the impact in price because the exchange rate EUR/USD for 2009 C-class?
Is Mercedes going to stick the actual price level?
Yesterday was 1.60 USD/EURO, is dramatically higher compared versus previous year, so may I think may cars will get more expensive (those from Europe).
Best regards

Your salesman (he is not "the dealer") better get up to speed.
MLs and GLs are built here because it is cheaper than building them in Europe. And that is why BMW, Toyota, Honda etc. have plants here for the US market.
ML, GL and G classes for Europe (and other places) are built by Steyr in Graz, Austria and always have been.
And, the C-Class plants for which countries have already been discussed at great length.

2008 BMW 335i Coupe (Six-speed Manual)
If the proposed 2009 changes are true, I might have to look somewhere else. I really would like 300 HP + manual transmission. The new M3 looks tempting.

er... it is not cheaper to build per say, its the volume that drives the decision to build a plant here. When the sales volume reaches certain amount locally, then it becomes more sense to have the plant that will be dedicated to built that particular model line.... avoid tariff, tax breaks, local state incentive... etc.
but it does not make sense for car company who doesn't sell enough of the models to have a plant here.... and it would still be cheaper to port them in.
Hyundai is a perfect example of that. It wasn't until Finbarr's 10yrs warranty in '99 that put hyundai on the map did hyundai finally puts a plant out in US 4 yrs later.
and same can be said for the japanese back in the 80s-90s. and all of them sold and build cheaper cars before having a plant in US.
