2008 mercedes 300c sport
wow, did not know that the 0-60 for the MT would be over 7. I may have to think about the purchase a little longer. The car is not going to arive until the end of april so it gives me some time to think about it.

I've read/heard from numerous times that the MT/AT difference is negligible. The 7spd auto is a performance tranny and the days of 1+ seconds differences are gone with todays automatics.
Not that you're asking for it, but IMO the auto is the way to go for one reason, it's a four door.

I have had 5 four-doors that all had manual transmissions. A car can still be sporty and have four-doors. There are are a lot of high performance sedans. Anyway, I like telling my car when to shift. Gives me more control over its behavior.

Car and Driver did a comparison test for the C300 Sport w/ 6spd manual. The results were a 6.5sec. 0-60 and a 14.9 1/4mile @ 95mph. My car is a 6spd manual with AMG rim option and I have also driven the automatic version several times. Hands down, the manual is much quicker, revs faster and does not have the nasty lag the automatic transmission has when starting from a stop. The 6spd is much more fun to drive and responsive to driver input. Please do not make excusses like "this is a 4 door sedan so it should have an automatic". This is a sports sedan and like many other sports sedans in its class, the manual transmission is an awesome combination. No matter how quickly the newer trannies out there shift, they will NEVER be able to match the performance response of a manual tranny.
Years down the road, the manuals due to their limited availability will be the cars that are sought after for a premium price.

I somehow doubt a C300 manual will be sought after; a W203 C55 maybe but even that's dubious. Possibly a W204 C63, but I have a hard time anybody's going to go through the effort of seeking out a plebian c300 manual. There are just more exciting cars to worry over.

oblu, I am glad you find my post so humurous...anyways, if the C300 does in fact compete against the likes of the 3-series BMW, G35 etc, then there will be enthusiasts like myself who sought after a manual sports sedan just as soo many people sought after manual BMW's. Yes, we are the minority, but I would not worry about buying a car just to please the next buyer. Buy the car the way YOU want it. I live in Florida, the sports car capital of the US. We have tons of enthusiasts here willing to purchase used manual BMW's and Mercedes because they like to shift.

C300 (W204) w/ MM, P1, & 18"amg's
I also live in FL... and I might have to agree with the "sports car capital" altho I dont know the actual statistics. Its a toss up IMO with LA NYC and MIA.

I have heard Florida called that before numerous times, I have also heard California called this. Car enthusiates are very passionate in Florida. Also there are lots of europeans who love manual sports cars, especially in South Florida. There are tons of car clubs, shows, race tracks. We are car nuts down here. I just came back from the ALMS 12hrs of Sebring. It was completely insane how many exotic/sports cars were there. Mostly enthusiasts from FL. It would be interesting to see statistics of sports cars per capita from FL and CA. I bet it would be close. I do miss the nice winding roads from up North and to the West. It is so darn flat here.
