To start, you have to hold the brake down and then just push the button in once. To turn off, once the car is in Park, push the button in once again and it will turn off. Keyless GO uses the existing starter keyhole to work. You can remove the button and revert back to using the key to start the car for valets etc.

Stop/go
It is exactly about the San Diego Lexus accident and their version of Keyless Go. The details about that crash were published recently and it's relation to the push button engine stop system is going to cost Toyota a huge amount of money. And that particular dealer.

But yes, the other issue was that the driver in the accident did not know that you could hold the button for 3 sec to kill the engine and they crashed and died. AFAIK there hasnt been any liability decided on that issue yet but i will bet that all keyless go type buttons get replaced with ones that say (HOLD TO KILL ENGINE) or something like that...

Just tried mine and I can shut the engine down in drive with or without the foot on the brake. Seemed like almost instant shutdown. Once the engine was off I was able to put the car in park.

I don't have keyless go, but I don't miss it a bit. I think it was a $1,000CDN option on the C300 4Matic. Anyway, I enjoy the part where you have to insert and turn the key to start and even more when both hands are in my pockets and have the car lock 20 feet behind me.

How could you miss it? You never had it. And the car doesn't shut down when you exit the vehicle, all it does is show a warning that the key is not located in the vehicle. Doesn't stop me from starting then retreating to my house on a cold day for a few minutes.

Their lives would have been saved if the driver held the keyless go button for 3 sec to kill the engine....so sad.

Lexus crash
The specific actuarial fault really has to do with the floor mats... The one thing everyone knows about the lexus floor mats is that they get worn and then bunch up and this is what caused the stuck throttle that then caused the accident. The lexus dealers now are literally drilling a hole in the floor mats and zip-tying them to the seat rail as an interim solution.

The theory is that the unsecured floor mat (installed by the dealer) somehow pinned the gas pedal down and the car took off. Speeds were above 100mph before the car collided with another car and went off the end of the road at a T-intersection, flipped and burned. Examination of the car's remains showed the brake pads worn down to the backing plates and the brake discs gouged and blued indicating very high heat.
Why the driver didn't put the trans in neutral is a mystery but I'll bet you that the floor mat issue and the engine shutdown procedure (unexplained, I'll bet) will be the basis of the lawsuit.
And that is why I asked about MB Keyless Go shutdown procedure which BTW was not answered.
