Unhappy w204 foglight $350 dollars

I went to the dealer today to have my car serviced. Passenger side foglight lense is cracked and fell apart. The service guy told me $350 dollars to replace it. He says he has to order the whole light and cannot just get the lense. WTF Anyone know where I can get just the lense to replace it? I already checked Hella's website and no luck. https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Did you damage the lense or is it a warranty issue?
Won't recommend you consider aftermarket replacements; stick with OEM.

I thinks this should be a warranty issue... Mine cracked too but haven't shattered. I had raybrig fog lights on my ek9 hatch for years and they never cracked and they only cost 350 for a whole kit not just a freaking lamp

mostly a rock that did that, clear lens are not as thick as the Frosty old light so they can't resist that much impact, which they are pretty common. I dont' know much about the W204 but for W203 you can just replace the lens for 20bux

unnecessary? Sure it is, but everything has it's price. for instance a branch falls through your window at home... etc... shiet happens, it sucks, but why complain about it? insurance deductible is the deciding factor... less than $500 you have to suck it up... more than $500 have insurance pay for it. I can't see about complaining about it in public or to anyone else. that's my opinion...

I don't think it's about "complaining" per se. The problem is that this extremely well designed car has some obvious shortcomings. These manifest both in poor quality materials and extremely hard to effect repairs. The fogs, the lower mesh grill, the license bulb, etc. I'm thinking that MB's design team needs to spend a few weeks REPAIRING these cars so that they can get a feel for what they have wrought!

What is your problem...he isn't complaining he just wants to know if there is another place that he can get it cheaper.

Is not about complaining, it's about sharing.

How about you quit complaining about other members in public. You don't need to thread crap in here, there is enough of that already. The OP wasn't complaining, at least it seems most of us didn't take it that way, so go have a bad day somewhere else please. Personally, I'm glad he shared his experience with us.

I was not complaining, someone needs to get laid! Anyways, was just giving you a heads up on the price from the dealership. Yes a rock hit my lense and cracked it, and then it just fell apart. he told me he was going to have to order the whole thing to replace it. I told him he better order more than one because I am sure this is going to be common. He said he had not seen it yet. Just trying to put the info out there people.

Yeah, and they didn't get those by paying $350 for a $50 part when they didn't need to.

for those that want to change it themselves you need to:
1. remove the fog light grill, three torx screws
2. take out three pastic push pins in the fender well to gain access
3. remove the four torx screws holding the fog light, you need a tox bit and small rachet with 1" extension
4. pull it out through the fender well
5. replace

My wife just called me and told me one of ours cracked too. Unfortunately, she found out at a car wash so they had to feel the wrath of her.

Adding clear bra material to fog lens tomorrow. Hopefully that will provide the needed extra cushion

I do have the amg kit. Nice to know that my dealer is charging me double! He told me he could not just order the lense, but had to get the whole thing? I told him to order it and have not heard anything back, that was two weeks ago. I think I will take my car to another dealer from now on.

$350 including parts and labor or just the part? Sounds like parts and labor to me.

If you are whining about the cost of parts/service, you must be a new Benz owner.
Get use to it, we MB owners get "laid" by the "Stealers" everytime you buy from them. Expect to pay higher prices for the "prestige". (J/K)
