My C300 forgets garage opener code!

I know there was a post before here on this subject but I cant find it using search to be able to add to it. Actually, I am posting as this now has happened twice to me. I didn't think much of it when the car forgot the code for the garage door one time as I read several others here had the same issue but now it has happened again.

Has anyone experienced this more than one time? Is this something that the dealer can do anything about? I have other cars with this feature but had never had one of my other cars forget the code and be unable to open the door again until reprogrammed... Any ideas or experience out there?

I was the guy that had posted this problem before. It hasn't happened to me except that one time, and I hope it doesn't happen again. I do hope someone can shed some light on this, especially if this turns out to be reoccuring problem.

I use all three HomeLink buttons, since we have three separate garage doors. But for those of you with only one or two garage doors, you may want to program the presently unused button(s) as a back up in case the primary one does not work. Just a thought.

Good idea. I may give that a try. When it lost the code the first time, I did not give it too much thought, just reprogrammed it. Now that it has happened again, I see this will probably be a recurring problem. I am just at 4000 miles and plan to take it in for the 3-5000 mile service in a few weeks. I will add that to the short list of small problems I am having with the car and see if the dealer have any idea or fix for it. I will be sure to post any updates after that service.

This probably won't work. I had one button programmed for my LEFT garage door and one button programmed for my RIGHT door. When it "forgot" the code...it forgot it for BOTH doors. So....it's something going on with the homelink rather than a problem with ONE button.

This problem has to do with new garage door openers that have the rolling code feature.

This car is able to address rolling coder openers. The problem is that the homelink just loses the code - now the second time for me. My wife's 4 year old Toyota Highlander has never lost the code once. This is something that should work correctly but does not. Hope the service department can resolve the issue.

Before I switched from the R to the W204 I had a talk with the shop foreman at the dealer to see what the "common" problems were with the W204. This is one that he mentioned. If I remember correctly, he said that certain brands of garage door openers specifically lift master were the ones that were having the problems. I can't remember if he said they had a fix for it yet or not.

I have 2 Lift Master garage door openers and haven't had this problem yet (fingers crossed). With homelink in my previous Jeep it forgot the code to 1 of my openers every once in a while.

I have two buttons programmed on my Homelink setup. One for work and one for home. Neither are rolling code. When the MB forgot the frequencies, it forgot both and it seemed to me that it acted as if it had never been programmed at all.

How long ago was your car built? Wonder if MB has made changes in its HomeLink since then.

Sounds like maybe it's loosing power and therefore the codes are getting erased. Any luck with MB service?

Well for me it will probably be a few weeks before I schedule and get it in for it's 3-5K mile checkup. I will post what comes of it when ever I am able to fit it into the schedule. BTW, I am using a Craftsman door opener. Nothing special. It does use rolling codes but I think they pretty much all do these days....

Came home tonight and low and behold my Homelink would not work to open my garage. Funny thing about it is, I just read this post a few days ago and now my doesn't work.

Didn't play with it to correct it tonight. I will in the AM. Funny how things happen sometimes.....

Well I took a garage door opener with me so I could shut the garage when I left this AM to take my son to school. Thought I would try my Homelink to see if it would work and IT DID...

Don't know why it didn't work last night and now it works the morning. Guess it felt threatened with the garage door remote in the cup holder......

Now that is weird. I have had mine forget the code twice. Once it forgets it, it stayed forgotten. Strange that it would not work one day then work OK the next. It is still about 3 weeks until I get mine to the dealer for it's 3-5K checkup. I'm curious to know what they say about it...

Took it in for it's well baby check up. Told them of the problem. All I got from them when I picked it up was they were not able to find any signs of error codes so they don't have any idea but to return it if it keeps happening. It has not happened again since but will not be suprised if it does.

No good answer from the dealer....

Demand they replace the Homelink control. This happened in my wifes Honda Odyssey, and they replaced the unit. Johnson Control makes the part I believe.

Thanks for the advise. If it happens again I will take it back to them and do just that. It has been stable since the last reset. Will see if it happens again.....
