I had the transmission replaced on a 328xi after 2k miles and when I got the paper work back it had copies of all the parts and numbers. One of which was for the transmission which was a rebuild (yeah brand new car and they put a rebuilt trans under it) and it said GM as the maker. The work was done at my dealership and all BMW parts were used.

Wow, but you know there still great cars. I sell Benz, but I still appriate the Beemers.

In this more and more globized world, you will see more and more of this partnering of companys. However I think they should have picked someone else to partner with than GM.

Benz made that mistake already with Chrysler, but it over now. Thank God.

BMW uses a GM built 5-Speed automatic transmission for years until they started using ZF. Why would you view of BMW change? You never knew the difference.
