An added BONUS for those of us with the VIM!!
For those of you without the Video in Motion module, you may have found out that when in NAVI mode...you can not use the COMAND knob to enter City, Street or House Number while the vehicle is in motion. This is a safety feature that MB has implemented to keep you focused on the road. You must "say" your commands, which for some of us works ok, while others hate the limited functionality. Since I have the Video In Motion module from MidCity Engineering installed, I can hit the + and the - on the volume control while a movie is playing to override the factory setting. This allows my kids and passengers to view a movie while the vehicle is in motion. When the module is "on" it basically disables the NAVI mode, which basically tells the car that it is not moving. This has worked well for the weeks that I have had it. On my way home for work, I had an idea!
I went into video mode and started a movie. I went back into NAVI mode and used the COMAND knob to enter a destination. It worked!! I was able to enter City, Street, and House Number while driving. (Very carefully of course). I then went back into video mode and "disabled" the VIM module and then back to NAVI. It plotted my course and the guidance was working, steering me toward my destination.
So...long story short. If you have the Video In Motion module, you can enter destination information into the NAVI while the vehicle is in motion.
I don't recommend you try to do this while you are in a heavy traffic situation where the road commands your attention. Please pay attention while driving. This is for informational purposes only.
Yeah not a problem with mine. Don't know about other EU countries but definitely works in UK.
