Trip to Star Motoring in Englewood NJ (Pix Inside!)
Hey guys, went down to a shop my friend works at over the summer's called Star Motoring. Its owned by the Knicks basketball player Stephon Marbury. These guys will be doing the Y pipes I need for the AMG tips that I bought that will be fitted with my C63 diffuser (painted black) This coming Thursday. While I was there to inquire about the work, I saw some great stuff that I wanted to share with you guys. The first notable Benz in the bunch was Stephon's SL55 with what I thought was one of the rarer Lorinser kits. They were in the process of changing the wheels for new ones and doing some interior audio work. If you look closely on the interior shot you can see his Knicks home jersey on the passenger seat! I thought that was pretty cool. While I was waiting, R&B singer Mary J. Blige's Maybach 62S (The supercharged maybach for all who aren't up 2 date) pulled in and I was able to snap a few shots. On her Maybach, they did a custom interior which I wasn't able to shoot, but I did shoot a picture of the trunk where they relocated the DVD player to as well as a custom install of a mobile WiFi system for wireless internet on the go. You can see the MJB embossed in the custom leather the units are wrapped in. Finally, a non-celeb customer had the best Benz in my opinion, the SLR 722 edition that had just gotten back from Renntech (holy jesus! ) and was getting custom audio work done in the trunk. This is a great shop, if you have a chance, check out their website and you'll see, among other things, a custom Rollscalade which is the front of a phantom on the body of an ESV Escalade with Maybach and custom interior appointments. Its pretty nuts, I actually got to sit in it last year when they had just finished it. I think the website is starmotoring.com or something along those lines. Comments are welcome, or just check out the pictures. I like to share my findings w/ you guys so I hope ya don't mind! Enjoy!

My apologies, the S stands for special! Who knew? haha. Sorry. The interior trim on this particular one was carbon fiber! Very nice. The pix are small because I took them with my **** Razr cell phone so I don't know how to make them any bigger.

The 722 edition looks much better than the stock version, but I still find these cars unimpressive in person. They photograph great, but when its in front of you its no bigger than a Corvette just a bit wider with a longer hood. Honestly if you put the accessory knock off SLR wheels on an SL its hard to tell the two apart till you open the doors ha ha.

AND!!!! Its a RENNTECH!! As far as the SLR being unimpressive, this one looked pretty damn big to me. Maybe the 722 carbon fiber accents made it look better. Who knows, either way, as you might remember, I saw Swizz Beatz a few weeks back in a regular SLR on the road, and this 722 to me was much more impressive. The addition of the accents and the darker headlights as well as the different wheels ( I hate the stock SLR wheels) really make it stand out. Also, the color was pretty amazing in person. Defiantly distinguishable from the SL I think, even to the layman.

I don't believe the actual trim is available as of yet. From what I understand, C63 owners and soon to be owners are having enough trouble figuring out how to get the carbon fiber trim packages in their own vehicles. As of right now I do know that there are veneer-type trim packages available out of germany that do include carbon fiber and the brushed aluminum that we have in our sport editions. However, while they do cover more parts of the dash then our stock trim currently covers, including such things as the window switch surrounds and the dash section with the phone and radio controls, it includes only the non-us cover for the cup holder section. As you know, the non-US cup holder area has a sliding cover and hence the trim piece for that part would not be usable unless the conversion was done. I do know that on MyMBonline a gentleman there was able to complete the conversion to euro-spec cup holder area for about $300 or so. The trim package itself I believe is selling for about 70 euro.

Update & More Good Car Stuff
Hey guys, I'm picking my car up today @ Star Motoring. I dropped it off yesterday for the diffuser/quad setup and a few other small goodies. I'm sure it will look great when i get it back, I can't say I'm not excited. While I was there dropping it off the other day they were hard at work on a brand new black Escalade which they were prepping for a custom conversion that they do in S.U.V.'s like the Rollscalade on their website. Upon first glance, the truck looks pretty stock, but a closer look revealed that the stock 20" wheels tucked a Black Brembo brake kit behind it. After noticing that I took a step back and realized that the rear doors were HUUUGE! This Escalade had been sent to a limo shop and was stretched at the door! Big Money! The roof revealed a black tracvision unit which receives mobile satellite TV inside the truck. The inside was beautiful, unfortunately due to the owner of the vehicle my pictures were limited. All in all, it looked very similar to the Rollscalade's interior. A little more elegant IMO. The initials custom stitched into the rear headrests of the soon-to-be chauffeured passengers were B.K. and S.C. Can anyone guess who will be riding in this truck shortly?? Also, there was even a small 3rd row behind the main passenger seats which were clearly only big enough for 2 baby seats.

Just adds to the overall allure of an already upgraded amazing vehicle?? How many people do you know with a Renntech modified SLR 722? Have you even seen one in person? Come on man. ANYWAY, the diffuser, tips and all other goodies are on the car. I brought it to the city tonite however, and ufortunatly blew a tire. I have the spare on now I'll take pics of the rear tomorrow for everyone. It looks great, I love it. I found out some useful information for anyone else trying to do this to their 300/350. I'm happy to help if u need anything, PM me.
