Any tips on removing the trunk spoiler?

The paint on my aftermarket spoiler has cracked so I need to remove the entire spoiler and ship back to manufacturer.

Can anyone who has actually removed the spoiler, provide any tips on how they actually did it? Please be as detailed as possible (i.e. supplies, tools, chemicals, heat, steps taken, etc...). I know the spoiler was installed with 3M double-sided tape as I did the original install. I don't want to scratch up the paint on the spoiler or do any other damage to the car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Heat up the spoiler and make sure you allow the glue to get warm as well. Then, Slip some dental floss under the lip and slowly saw through the glue. DO NOT try to help it by lifting up on the lip. Once the lip is removed, you can clean up the remaining tape / glue with warm elbow grease or goof off, or some other simple detergent that won't hurt the paint. The longer the fin has been on, the harder the tape will be. If it is within a few months, it should come right off.

Where did you buy the aftermarket spoiler from? I bought one online and hope that MY paint doesn't crack or come off.

Just as stated above. If you have problems with dental floss breaking- try fishing line (I would wrap the ends around a piece of wood or something so I would't cut up my hands.) I just kept on puling more out. You will be amazed how easy it comes off. My original after market spoiler was molded wrong and must have began to chip because when I I returned it I was accused of "removing it with a screwdriver". Stupid

Use dental floss. Double up on it, it'll work just fine.

That's how I removed the emblems in the back.

I'd use fishing line. Why take a chance with floss?

Thanks for all the tips guys! I will give it a shot. The weather is still wet and cold up here in the Pacific NW. Guess I'll have to break out the hair dryer to heat up the 3M tape.

The red part is the tape backing. Pull it back a little and you'll see. I sent mine back. The claim was that it was a C63 spoiler. It was way off.

was it the hong kong one? i thought it was the adhesive but it was soo stuck on the red strip that i thought it was just a cushion. i'll use a blade to peel it.

did you remove your oem and put this on just to find out it was off? that sux!

now i have doubts...
