Bluetooth Vcard exchange

Hi,

After looking everywhere for this on the Internet and on this forum and not finding an answer, I decided to ask you if you had any problems to send, over Bluetooth, Vcards from your phone to the COMMAND.

I've a Nokia E51 and "normal" Bluetooth works fine with the car allowing me to make and receive calls. I'm well aware that automatic address book sync is subject to special conditions and I'm not dwelling into that. What I just want to do is to send my contacts on the phone over Bluetooth as Vcards. But each time I try, when you choose the option on the COMMAND to receive Vcards, the car/phone just breaks the Bluetooth connection every time.

Since on the COMMAND, there's no apparent Bluetooth setting that one could tinker with, I would like to know if someone has encountered this before, specially with Nokia phones, and what they did in order to solve it ?

TIA

It is a bit of a pain, but it works. I assume you are transferring one by one.
Once the phone is paired, you send from the phone, and the command should receive it. I have had issues where, during that process, the command loses the bluetooth connection (nokia as well), but then it re-connects by itself and carries on.

Also, have you set it to auto-pair with your phone and likewise on your phone?

It pairs automatically (had to look on the Internet as well in order to avoid the confirmation question on the Nokia each time I turn on the ignition).

Tried sending them all at once. I'll try with only one and report back. Thanks.

Not all phones support OPP (Object Push Profile), this is one of the ability to transfer contacts from the bluetooth device to the car. For example, my BlackBerry 8830.

check out the MB Mobile website:

Thanks but I already knew of that site which for me is useless.

I think that the site www.mobile-review.com is a better one to know if your phone is capable of doing the Bluetooth tricks needed. Here's the page on my model and if you to the "Connectivity" part, you'll see that it support, among other things, the OPP feature.

Well, tried again to transfer the Vcards and it worked ! Just had to be patient and managed to transfer them all at once (around 300 in less than 1 minute).

What was the method you finally used ? I have the same problem as you: when I tried, bluetooth connection is dropped.
Thanks

In the meanwhile, changed from the E51 to the E71 and since then, I didn't try to exchange again.

On my second try, I tried to transfer just a few contacts which worked and then I went for the whole nine yards, which worked too.

Best of luck.

Well, I have a nokia E71 aswell but can you tell me how to send all the contacts at the same time. Because when I go to my adress book on phone and mark all contacts, I will lose the function of sending Vcards!

Thanks.

Just poked around with my E71 and you're right. Once you mark a contact, the option to send business card is gone ! Apparently, they changed something from the E51 to the E71.

You could try posting at http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...icators&page=1 to see if there's a solution to this.

Already googled on that problem with e71, seems that nokia took out the function to send all contacts at once on this device. Lots of people online complaining about this.....

why why why nokia.......
