Tinted tail lights?

Has anyone tinted their tail lights on the W204? If so, can i see some pics? I'll be doing ours in a few months and just wanted to see what they look like. LEDs preferred, but lets see them all.

Why sure, just paint over your brake lights. Then, when that Freightliner drives inside your trunk during the morning rush hour, he won't have to pay.

I have LED tail lights and I will be getting a light tint only on the red portions of the lense to tone down the bright red color (it really stands out on my silver car). The color will appear dark cherry on a cloudy day.
I had my previous tails tinted a medium tint which makes it look almost black on cloudy days and a dark cherry color in sunlight, but it didn't negatively affect the visability of the lights at night.

I'm getting it done by Jon's Tinted Tails in two weeks, I'll definately post pics.

I've done some photoshop pics on a thred a while back, unfortunately the search function on this forum is currently not working.

Oh but he will. I have stage 2 done on my E and the brakes show just fine, especially since they are LEDs.

Thanks for the help. Got anything else to contribute?

I usually tint the entire housing and not just the red. On silver, I like the white showing, but not in black.

Post up pics when done..... This Joe's Tail tint just tints tails for a living? Sweet!!

I saw a w204 this morning with blacked out tail lights and black rims and I have to admit it looked pretty sick. Made me wish I had a black car. Although it seems the w204's look great in black.

IMO, I think it would look better with the white strip...contrast is good.

Actually I'm interested in seeing pictures of this too. I wasn't looking to do this mod at first, but then saw a white c55 with tinted tails and it looks sweet. Would like to see it on a c300 before I commit.

I agree. That's what I will be doing. Just a light tint like the older Audi A6s. My Volvo yails have a slight tint as well. I'd also like to see Jon's light tint on the entire tail.

Jangy, here is a photoshop I did on a black C63.

I'm not a fan of the entire light tinted (either red only, or clear only). But here is one with th red only done.

ha, found my photoshop pics:

Stock:

1. Light tint with clear strip:

2. Light tint on entire tail light:

3. Medium tint with clear strip:

I'm going with #1.

Older AMG Mercedes had tail lights tinted like #2.

It was fully blacked out. I think the fact that he had black rims with polish lips made it really look good.

Edit: He also had tinted windows. Not sure what percentage but prob a 35%. So all 3 mods made his car looks really good.

Agree.

Also, I think the Brabus lights were painted from the inside. The red around our lights is the plastic under the lense. I almost bought a set off of ebay to pull apart and paint. Now I wish I would have.

I was looking at the bullit pictures, and I did see that there was no plastic on top of the tails. I was thinking maybe it was painted outlines, but inside seems like the idea they used. It would be a hell of work trying to mask tape the rest of the tails, I hate little painted lines that comes from tapes...

This is totally

I love it how your sig pic draws attention to your clear side markers, something that NOBODY else has. What a ***** move, just rubbing it in. Something I would do, just to be an a-hole. *jealous*

I don't even like clear side markers, in general, but every time I see your car, I feel like I have to get one as soon as it's available. Weird.

Jangy, go with #2 on the W204. I am planning on having the SL63 tinted soon and I am leaning towards #2 for sure. Love that redish/black look. Simply amazing.

I think I will , but I may go a slightly lighter shade on the whites? that would be a little different. The AMG SLs have a nice color to the whites. That is what i want and then just the red color killed.

I installed my tinted tail lights last weekend!

They were darker than what I wanted (I went with the light-medium tint as recommended by Jon), but I am still very happy on how it looks. A definite improvement from stock.
I decided not to keep the clear strip untinted, as I like a more monochromatic and cleaner look. The LEDs look really nice and more properly integrated with the lights with the tint as the chrome egg crate pattern LED surrounds looks a bit cheap.
If I had to do it again I would go one shade lighter (light tint).
