How are people getting invoice or below on 09 orders

As usual, it seems houston (and TX) has some of the worst deals around. My dealers say 09 orders will be at or near sticker, which is ridiculous.

Others on forum have ordered 09s at 08 invoice (which is likely below 09 invoice). 08 have been seen for 2 grand under invoice. I know orders have less leverage than on the ground stock, but wondering why others are having success.

I was going to do my normal mass email offer sheet to all dealers w/ 500 miles, but since 09 prices won't be known until mid july, I will need to wait on that.

don't dealers always say new orders are going to be at or near sticker?

Good luck with that....most Merc dealers deal at $1000+ over invoice --- even the "Costco" discounted price is $950 over invoice, on '08's.

I can tell you that C-Class buyers are few and far between out my way, now. My dealer has at least ten in stock, what with sales on everything being in the toilet at the moment.

the economy sucks and gas prices are high. buying new cars are not high on most of people's priority lists right now. dealers should be itching to move cars at or near invoice.

I signed a contract last week for a 09 c350 for invoice. We just wrote the contract at a '08 invoice pricing with a note that it will be adjusted to the 09 invoice once it is available. I did the mass e-mail like you are talking about doing and had 3 dealers come back at invoice and 2 at invoice + 500. I am OH for your reference

I think its going to depend on in part on your market area and what the dealer has on the lot. As in RLE's case, a dealer with ten in stock that aren't moving may talk a good game, but will they ultimately be willing to loose a sale because they're not willing to offer a discount? I don't think so.

When I got my C300 back in September 2007, the norm was to sell at list price. Even then, a few claimed to get a discount but I'm not sure that they didn't have a trade in which always confuses the question of what you're getting for the trade in vs what you're getting as a discount off list price.

In Canada the economy is good and the car is in such sharp demand t hat it's hard as hell to negotiate on this car I found. But for the ones in the states their economy is in the gutter right now leaving them with bargain deals on cars and houses.

FYI. I got it for my price and was able to custom order it to the spec I wanted.
