C300 Launch Control !!

Hi Guys,,,

Is it true there is some sort of a reset that eliminates this initial delay when you fully press the gas pedal?? I heard that there is a reset you should do after the break-in period in order to get the car moving more responsively!!

I have noticed that the initial acceleration once I fully press the gas is very disappointing! Actually not what I expect from a 3.0 Litre engine! About 1 second delay….I am sure this can be avoided some how…I have also heard that Mercedes does that on purpose to give the ride more comfort!!

this was just added to this thread moments ago...https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w204/249371-w204-secrets-thread.html

Step to Reset the TCU. Resetting the TCU will reset transmission to factory shift points and the car will 'relearn' your driving style.

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for TCU to reset.

Yea, didn't really make a difference for me Wouldn't make sense though cause wouldn't it just learn your driving style again anyways?

i think the point is that during the initial break in period where we werent supposed to drive hard and were supposed to keep it in 'C' mode, our cars learned a weak/slow driving style.

now that many of us are out of that break in period we can have the car learn a more aggressive style.

I see what your saying. What I feel is that I tend to drive the car easy most of the time but punch it hard once in a while. But the thing is I want that ability to punch it quick whenever I need to and not have the computer learn when I drive the car more relaxed. Sorry if I'm not making any sense lol.

I only drive manual transmission cars and this is one of the reasons. I love my 6 speed manual as I have no delay on my C300.

Not sure if resetting the computer would affect launch delay...I think its just something you may have to live with since its an automatic...unless you can get some kind of chip

I usually drive it in manual mode. Seems to accelerate better. I am also buying a Sprint Booster. I have always heard great things about them for drive by wire systems.

I did it about 3 weeks ago and it clearly made a difference.

It definitely makes a difference if you do it correctly.

1. turn key to start position
2. hold gas pedal to the floor for 5 one thousands
3. while still holding the pedal turn key to the off position
4. release pedal
5. wait 2-5 minutes for reset (you will hear a small click from the key hole if it is done properly)
6.Remove key, re-insert and start the car
