Idea Buy Ecu then reflash it then Install it wont void warrenty

Does any one know the price or an idea of the ECU to buy an extra one. You have it chip then every time you go in to the dealer you take it out and put in the original one that is not chip. Does this idea work not to void your warrenty let me know. And what about when they do a software update of a new verision at the dealer for sunroof or something else does that update go into ECU. Cause if it does only your orginal one will have the update the one you keep at home will not have the update only the chip update on it like renntech if you decided to go with them. So it seems easy when you go to dealer for warranty problem take out your chip ECU then put your original ECU back in the car. I Just have no clue how much with an ECU cost. WHo can provide me with that infor. And also when there is any software update liek sunroof or transmission does it go on the ECU or another part of the car. OR is the ECU only for engine performance im new to this it only an idea i got. Give me your feed back

general rule is to remove all 3rd party parts before a related warrenty claim

Doesn't the ECU store the vehicles history also? Or am I wrong? If I am right and the dealer reads no history except for the short time till you put in the chipped version I would think red flags would go up.

Daniel @ MKB N.A. told me that the chip they sell cannot be seen by star diagnostic computers. It is 3k though to get you to 300 hp for the C300.

300 HP??????? How the hell do you get that big of a jump on an NA motor with just a chip/reflash? Sounds too good to be true. If true, though, WOW. Worth the price, I think, but I wonder what the trade-off would be (reliability, MPG rating, longevity, etc)

If someone had an ECU upgrade that can make my C350 as fast as a 335i I would buy it... But yes, 60hp is too good to be true.

That's because there is confusion here. The 300hp is for the 350 and Daniel at MKB must have thought that when replying to AMGTestDriverNJ.

Even 300hp(32hp increase on a C350) from just a tune on a NA seems unreal when everyone else is way lower. MKB never answered my question of how they get so much extra power when I asked so I'll pass and deal with the LET(site sponsor) who is local and see what kind of power they can make.

yeah, i also saw the number on the MKB website. I called them several times, but they never return my calls. BUT i later went on the site again. There are 2 different computer upgrades

1. Engine tuning: Modified engine management with readapt ignition map and injection map. Which gives you 306HP.

2. Electronics: Vmax delimiter Vmax adaptation ECU. didn't give you any number.

I wonder which one is the actual ECU upgrade.

that may be true. But if an ECU fails, it's sent back to Germany. Plus, the way these ECU's are flashed, they are taken apart and tool marks can be seen on the screws and the seals are broken.

I agree, I wouldn't do it personally without a 2nd ecu already in the stash as suggested. but then between the chip itself and the cost of a second ecu your looking at a ton of $ if the chip wasnt enough. And yes, I fkd up daniel gave me the right info, that 300 hp quote was for the 350. My apologies.

A new ECU from MB is $2,000. It's also exclusive to your car and your car only so you can't just pick one up from a junkyard.

And he claims a 72 hp gain? Roll up your pants legs, it's too late to save your shoes.

The STAR computer won't know your car has been flashed. That part is true. What they can see is the tool marks from taking your ECU apart. Also, if you ever have a problem with your ECU, they are sent back to Germany and some are inspected.
