I paid too much... Anything I can do?
This is driving me crazy: I placed an order for a 2009 C350 with the following options:
- Leather Upholstery
- Sunroof
- P2
- iPod Adapter
- TeleAid
- Metallic Paint
- MM
Turns out the MSRP for this is $47,770. I got $1000 off. Thats it. 2.1% off. That's $46,770.
Now I know you people from around the world pay waaaaay more than this for your C Class. But for a C Class purchased in the USA, am I paying too much?
I signed for this already, and I put $1000 down. Is there anything I can do to lower the price of this at this point? (The car won't be here until the Second week of August)

Here by our dealers, if you have ordered they have your signature for the price on the order, you have ordered for that price. No way to lower the price if you signed.
I bought my C-Class (for the full price, because they wouldn't even think about discount), it was delivered 26 februari, it was a stock car. On the 27th februari (so 1 day later) they begin an special offer (action) for the C-Class, with FREE navigation, FREE accessoires and more little things. Nobody told me when i ordered my car 2 weeks before. So i became crazy and called my sales man. There was nothing to do, the action starts the 27th so i had to live with it.
motherf*****I contacted the store manager, and after much discussions i get discount on some accessoires..... WOW
Thats the way it goed here, every sales man is your friend till you have ordered with your signature. From that specific moment you have to call yourself when/where and how late your car comes and will be delivered.

Where did you get it? I'm on the market for a C Class and visited a dealer in Alsmeer... after some conversation the guy told me that if I could hold off a few weeks, he would have the first edition Bluefficiency at a deep discount because MB wants them on the street quickly. He even showed me his order list and gave me a photocopy of the price list. I then asked him about the "business class" package on the other models, and he told me that if I order that, then there's no more room for discount, hinting that they will in fact negotiate. I'm pretty sure that once I order all negotiations are off though.

I ended up doing the European Delivery Plan thing in order to capture a 7% discount (no haggling, just a fixed price schedule) plus a further savings of $875 for the delivery charge that is waived for EDP purchases. I will only be in Germany a few days; just enough to get the tour, EDP price, and the highly subsidized Black Forest Rally trip package. After that it shoud be about 4-6 weeks to (re)pickup the car at my dealer.
If you look at what you signed, is it an order form or a actual contract? It should tell you on the paper if your down payment is non-refundable. If it does not say that, I do not beleive that legally they can keep your 1k down payment.
Tell them that you have been looking around and have found a better deal on a XXX or at another dealer and see if they will come down on their price. The will most likely tell you no, but in the current environment buyers are in the catbird seat, not dealers.
Good luck, you have to remain firm with the dealer, I am sure they will gang up on you, but at the end of the day it is your money being spent not the dealer's. Like others have said here, they are not your friend, it is a business transaction.
Any particular way I can get some accessories thrown in for free maybe?

Enjoy your new car bud
As long as you don't drive the car off the lot, the car does not belong to you and the sale is NOT complete!
I'm not sure what steps you have to take from here, but you still have options!
My advice would be:
Go to another dealer to try and negotiate a better deal, tell them the situation that you're in, and have them help you cancel the other order.
