How often do you air/nitrogen tires?

I may have just lost track of time, but it seems that I added nitrogen to my tires just two weeks ago and had to add more today. I added about a pound to each tire.

I always do this in the morning before driving and the car is garaged. Ambient temperature is about the same...withing 5 degrees, I'd guess.

I do drive over some rough roads (interstate highways in serious need of repairs) and wonder if that might be causing the problem.

My next step is to spray bubble solution on the valves to see if I have a leak. Problem is if its leaking this slowly, I'm not sure that it'd show up.

I have a C300 that I purchased from Crown Automotive in Birmingham, Alabama. They also carry some other brands of cars.

My understanding is that this dealership replaces air for nitrogen.

What I don't know is if MBs come from the factory with nitrogen .

The tire pressure was very off when I bought the car.

Mine came from the dealer with air and pressure was spot on when checked the next morning. My aftermarkets also uses air, I prefer that as I carry a compressor just in case. Used to drive British cars and you always carry tools etc.

What's the advantage of nitrogen over air? You get 80% nitrogen with air anyway.

It is supposed to lose pressure slower.

Although I use nitrogen, I'm not sure that I buy into the promoted advantages. If air already contains 80% nitrogen and the non nitrogen component leaks out faster, wouldn't you be pretty close to 100% nitrogen after its leaked down and been refilled with air a few times????

there are more benefits to nitrogen fill than just tire pressure. although I admit the benefits are rather minor and won't ever apply to most everyone. Nitrogen is chemically inert at normal temperatures compared to oxygen which can improve tire life. Nitrogen fill also has no moisture unlike oxygen so you wouldn't have to worry about rusting on your rims. This isn't an issue depending on the material of your rims (most are alloy anyways). Nitrogen also isn't combustible so if by some weird reason your tires overheat, they won't explode.

Either way, if given a choice, I'd rather just go with oxygen as the price for nitrogen refill is ridiculous.

My Australian delivery did not have nitrogen. I agree you always carry tools in British cars & its helpful to have towing insurance. I owned a 1951 Wolesley 6/80 & a Leyland P76 & was always covered in grease maintaining them. In fact the Leyland was nicknamed the P 38 ie half a car
