I just test drove the 2009 C300 sport...

I was perilously close to buying it.

It felt very "solid". Like more than a bimmer or my old G35. And definitely more than my TSX.

Oh man it was great. the hooded gauges I'd say looked nice too and the way things were in its , just the little things were nice. Like how the little storage compartment above the gear shift, slides in and out all smoothly.

Or how the center armrest storage box opens up nice and slow. It just looked great opening. And the armrest on the door was padded with some soft material and wasnt just a plastic shelf.

Sucks that I was driving it in oakland and there was a lot of traffic. The turn signal lever is really low. I think that could take a bit to get used to. But wow excellent car. It felt "expensive". I do have to say that with 18" rims driving around the crappy streets of oakland it felt smoother than my TSX. Very smooth not jarring like a bmw with run flats would feel.

Gooooo ahead and buy it !!!! You only live once so wtf why not ??? Think of one of those hard days at work and you'll realize that you need to reward yourself for those days ...which will come again sooner or later !! Good luck in deciding !!

it was probably more that they had a bunch of 08s they were trying to get rid of. I gotta save some money first...

I've never taken out a loan to buy a car, so I don't wanna start now. Feels like I earned it more so hopefully next year.

I think the only thing against this car really is the horse power compare to the other car in it's class
other than that, this car is almost perfect

+1, though I don't miss the power too much. Fast enough for my needs. But a few more horses definitely wouldn't hurt.

its definintely below, say the 335i and g37 and upcoming TL (if you consider the TL in its class, since the new TL will be larger than an E class)

but other than that really its pretty competitive in its segment at least HP wise. Its a bit heavier than a 328... but hp wise its about the same and has more torque.

I figure its competitive with the new a4 (211hp/258tq) , the 328 (230/200) , tsx (201/170) and even the lower end CTS (260 and its a very large car). I suppose if you get generous and say put the volvo s40 t5 in there (215 hp) as well.

So i dont think its too bad, when I drove it it seemed like it had "enough" that you wouldn't really ever complain about it.

When I took a test drive in a C300 I felt it was fast enough . Unfortunately when I went back the second time after I drove some competitors It felt a bit slower then the others. So I decided to get in a C350 . . . . . wow what a difference. I ordered a 2009 C350 that same day.
The interior and styling on the MB beats the competition hands down.

out of acura TL (similarly priced), BMW 328, CTS, and A4, C300 is the most balanced in performance, luxury, and looks. You really have to know what's important to you. Sure, you can find faster cars in this price point (WRX and EVO) but is boy racer what you want? :-) you can't go wrong with c300. Too bad USA don't get c350 4matic...... but with the gas prices these day, i wouldn't sweat it...

I'm with you on all accounts, but I feel the new 09 Acura TL will still compete in the C class range due to its price. On that note the new TL will start with a base 3.2L 286hp engine blowing the C300 out of its German waters. Not to mention if you go price for price you would have to use the Acura Type S which will have a 3.7L 300hp-350hp SH-AWD setup for the same price as a similarly equipped C300 4matic. That all said the Benz is still more solid than the Acura, Honda still can't bring themselves to put some upscale materials in their cars, or at least the ones out now...the TL has yet to be seen.

Benz will have to do something spectacular with the C class to get me to buy another one when the warranty is up. As it stands now the competition will have the C300 beat in a matter of months, but Benz tends to refresh and update more often than they used to, so I'm sure they will try and keep up. (Still think the GLK will be my next ride though, fingers crossed)

After driving the 328i Sport and C300 Sport for a few thousand miles now, I have to say the 328i feels quicker, albeit not be that much. The lighter body and that eager straight-six edge-out the C300 in those moments where every last drop of oomph is appreciated.

That said, both cars are equally fun to drive. Each has their separate, distinct personalities. If you're specifically out for a spirited cruise though, I think the BMW is still the ticket.

Best Regards,
Paolo

As a current acura owner, acura is pretty much dead to me.

The new TL pictures are out and edmunds.com even drove one. It might be the ugliest car in its class. That and its $42000 for the awd one loaded and weighs 3900 pounds. Based on the fact that it has the same engine and AWD system , and transmission as the current RL and is a ludicrous 6 inches longer than the 2008 TL its probably a boat . The current RL gets 16/22 EPA also, so yeah the TL is um... i dont think really even inthis space anymore.

Yeah acura is dead.
