I bought the c350 alomst near 48k but today i was looking around saw e 55 2007 with 20000 mile for 50k. Is it worth it geting a new car or it a high risck getting a used e55 . CAn anyone lighten this subject i am so confused now. I saw the E55 ran almost 92k new and used for 50 k . Or one should never get these high end cars used what are your thoughts on it.

if the choice was between an 08-09 C350 or an 07 e55 with only 20k miles.....as much as I like the w204s....I'd hands down get the e55. Sorry to say...

CPO warranty only. And even then pay close attention to what it does or does not cover. I got lured into the same thing a few years back when I picked up a CPO Audi A8. The thing only had 26k miles on it, and I picked it up for 34k. It was a great car, but parts started getting harder to come by so it'd sit in the shop waiting for parts.
High luxury cars have always had awful residual/resale value, nothing new there. But the more gizmos the car has, the more expensive its going to be to maintain so go into eyes wide open.
If you want an E55, then yeah, you made a mistake.

I think you made the right choice. Being an E55, who knows what the former driver did. If it was a E350 it might have been a different story.

I was in the market for a used C55 and ended up with a new C350. The AMG power is nice but I couldn't wrap myself around paying so much for a used car no matter what the cost new. The problem with the AMG cars is as mentioned who knows how they have been driven and I didn't want the burden of finding out.
There was no 2007 E55 as the E63 was introduced that year?

I have had some bad experiences with used cars so I stay away from them.
I have no experience with a used MB however.
The problem lies with the previous owner(s). Like others have said, you might get a car that belonged to crash bandikoot LOL.
But if you really really want the E55 make sure you get a good warranty.
I would go with c350 just because I like the styling more.

another thing to take into account.....AMG vehicles hold their values much better than non-AMG. If you plan on driving it to death, then it won't matter, but if you ever want to sell it back out... And yeah, if it was a choice between a used c55 or w204, I'd probably go w204, but the E55 is a different class.

it depends if you mind used car, alot of ppl don't want used car (alot of those therefore lease)
I would have gotten the E55 and yes, get extended warranty on it even though
AMG has better reliability rating.
its a different class car all together...
sry

oh, and obviously take all the usual precaution when buying a used car... records, evidence of crashes, fixup, etc.... if its clean, drives well, no rattle, well ya, used E55 over c350.

I think you paid too much for the C that's why it's making you thinking you made the wrong choice. The E55's from 2003-2006. 2007's already the E63.
3 friends bought the w211 E55 used. so far none had any issue with their cars. all certified pre-owned.

well it is actually the opposite, if you check on cars.com a 2006 C55 is around $35-36k. a 2006 C350 is around $30k. It's not a whole lot difference, but you can see how where the 55 was a $60k car while the 350 was a $40k car. That pretty much says it all that AMG doesn't hold value much. especially with todays market gas guzzling cars are hard to sell.

yea, even the 2006 M5 I saw couple of them with around 20k miles going for less than $60k. The car was like $90k when new. slow economy's not helping car market, but great time for consumer tho.

The last generation S class is not doing much better on resale and you can have a 2006 CPO in the $30K+ range. Great for folks who are looking for used MB.

I really think the deal of the century is 2005 AMG CL55 with factory warranty. 3 years old car and you can now have it in the low to mid $40K+ range. I believe it was $175K new.

The deal on the CL55 is truly impressive. Only if I were not so dead set against used cars...
