Where do I get this crap that the manual says I am supposed to mix with water and refill the resevoir???
Can't I just get a jug of that 99 cent wishield wiper fluid crap at k-mart and refill the tank with that?
Or do MB's require special fluid that will not harm the paint or pump system or something???

So far I have always refilled mine with the dealer. I am glad you brought this up since I have been driving for quite sometime with that annoying message on the dash saying "Check washer fluid" (I know it goes away with 1 click of OK button but to do that everytime I start the car is pissing me off!)". I dont want to wait until my next service and I was also wondering if I can just use the cheap-a** washer liquid from Target.

Just fill it with reverse osmosis water (the same as the purified water that most people have at their kitchen sink).
I find that the soap solution from the dealer is a little too strong anyway.

I use RainX washer fluid refilled about three times since new.

filling it with water is a good way to kiss you pump bye bye when the temperatures dip under 0 degrees celsius.....

I must have a broken sensor, because mine has been empty for months and I haven't seen one error message...
Anybody else with a c350 show an error message constantly every day when empty???

Well,
I am glad I didn't bring this up - too chicken LOL. I've bought the 4 dollar stuff and it was horible, it stinks really bad and dosen't really clean the windshield all that well. I bought the 99 cent stuff and while it did't smell it didn't clean as well. I swear the MB original fluid worked the best. I don't wanna bring it to the dealer to fill that though - is that what you guys did? That's like bringing it in because the low fuel gage is on LOL.

I always use 20/10 in all our cars - easy to find at any auto parts store. Has always worked fine for me.

I've used the el cheapo Walmart stuff and haven't had a problem with it. This summerfit stuff sounds like the stuff that comes from the factory, its not good for winter use. Might be better off staying away from anything that has the word summer in it if you live in winter weather states.

I have refilled my washer container countless times since new just with rainwater & it still has a very sudsy wash on the windscreen. Christ knows how much detergent was put in initially. I am not a big fan of detergent as it cuts the paintwork polish, so usually I clean my windscreen manually, apply rainex & use the rainwater fill. I would not use town water that comes from bores or water that has a high mineral content.Originally Posted by rb23lb

Summer fit is the concentrate for warmer times of the year, winterfit has more anti-freezing chemicals. Mix with distilled water. Other things can cause pump damage or clogg the lines/nozzles from freezing, buildup, etc. It it a matter of $2, not worth it to skimp.

summerfit is the only washer solvent available from mb (in the US anyway). winterfit is no longer offered last time i checked (part number is superceded by summerfit). it is basically a small tube (2oz maybe?) of concentrated soap. you pour that in and add water. dealer price should be under $5.
