I think I need HID's
#26
I ordered a set from James yesterday. He said he'd try to post a DIY on the install, but that was only a few days ago. He mentioned mounting the balasts to the back of the headlight cover. I'll take pics of my install when the kit comes in.

Here is the circle of life for the HID kit.
You start by removing the plastic cover on the back of the headlamp, and drilling a hole so that the wires from the HID bulb will fit through. The Rubber grommet is provided so that water does not enter the back of the headlamp.
So you'll drill a hole in the plastic cover, slide the wires through, and use the rubber grommet to cover the hole.
After this is completed, you'll install the HID bulb, and plug in the power and ground. It is Highly recommended to use a volt meter at this point so that you make sure that the power is moving in the correct direction. Plug the red or blue wire into the positive power, and the black wire to teh ground.
Close the cap, and then you'll be left with 3 plugs; a black little plug, a black/yellow little plug and a larger black/yellow hanging out of the back of the cover on the other side of the rubber grommet.
The large yellow and black plug will get plugged into the warning canceler, then the warning canceler will get plugged into the ballast. You will then plug the ballast into the final two little plugs that remain.

Still need to find a place to mount the ballast. James, where do y'all mount them?

Ok, got my kit in today. Thanks James for getting it out to me quickly. Everything looks great, I just need to open the hood, grab my unibit and fluke, and find a place to hide/mount all this stuff.
Anybody complete the install yet?

After planning/install is complete, I'll be sure to post some pics. I really want to make this mod as inconspicuous as I can. I don't want any extra scrutiny from MB technicians, etc. I would hate to have to deal with MB saying my warranty is void....

Ok, I got them in this evening. The install was a bit tedious, but completed in about an hour. It was hard finding a place for the balast on the drivers side. I'm fairly happy, but I have a dark spot on the driver's side on the bottom left. I'll have to work with reseating the bulb and see if it makes a difference. Beam projection is adequate, color looks great, and visibility is much improved.
I'll write up picture descriptions later and make another DIY, but for now, y'all can just check out the pictures.

Cory,
Great, to see you got them installed... never thought about cutting a notch on the cap, that is a great idea![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
As for a group buy, let me see what I can do, but honestly as you can see from the prices that stealth auto has, our prices are very very low. But I'll try to squeeze a few dollars out from somewhere.
