REQUESTING REFUND FOR $5 FOR COST OF NEW TAPE FROM CAR KING ROOF SPOILERS
I am requesting a $5 refund from Brad at CarKing for the cost of new 3M double sided tape...
Today, after nearly a month of holding tight, the right edge was lifted up after leaving the car outside in the sun all day...
This is now a big hassle for me to take it off, clean the window, take off all the old tape, go to the store and buy new tape, reclean the window, and reapply..
I think it is very Cheap of CarKing to use the CHEAP Taiwan Immatation 3m tape instead of the real stuff that lasts!
I DONT CARE ABOUT THE $5 AT ALL, IT IS JUST THE PRINCIPLE OF USING INFERIOR QUALITY PRODUCTS WHICH TICKS ME OFF AND IM NOT LETTING IT GO WITHOUT RECOURSE

I thought it was 3M tape when i first got it then after installation within the week it started to lift and i was very mad everyday i had to press it down n then it would go back up again so i said f it went to pepboys and repalced it with 3M strong hold double side tape the gray verison. right now its holding but when i hit a speed bump it would go up a lil in the corners.

CRAP
how does the dealer do it i wonder... some type of strong glue?
Or is this just a replica spoiler design flaw in the actual surface that makes contact with the glass??

I tried to warn you guys!!!
Brad offered me a refund for $10 for my trunk spoiler, it never came.
For those of you with black cars, make sure the 3M tape you buy is BLACK, and not gray. I bought the gray one first and you could notice the seam - the black tape hides it better.
Good luck!

Here are some tips with applying this stuff (I learned this all the hardway)
The tape attaches better when it's heated. Sort of like "melting" it on. I recommend using a blow-dryer to heat the tape while it's on the the spoiler before attaching.
Also, make sure the surface is warm as well, you do not want to apply it while the surface is cold. I installed mine after the car sat in direct sunlight for 4-5 hours.
Obviously, clean the surface down.
After installation, park your car in the sun while the spoiler is somehow held down, with blue-tape. This should melt the tape a tad and help its' overall strength.
These are all just ghetto remedies, I'm in no way a parts-installer or anything. Good luck!

I think the problem is not the tape, but the shape of the spoiler. The spoiler has to be bent in order to follow the glass curves. I had to apply a good amount of pressure to the spoiler in order to shape it during installation. This causes the spoiler to constantly pull away from the glass, specially on the edges, where we are all having problems.

I don't get it..
I didn't have any problem putting the spoiler on. It has been on the car holding firmly since day one. I don't know why yours are having problem.
OEM one also uses tape only. because the center is hallow, you can't use glue.. unless you apply it on the edge, which can be very messy.
Like I said, I had seen both the OEM and replica. the quality is almost the same. I think Brad did a great job on those spoilers (at least on mine).

AH-ha!! guarantee that is why ours are peeling at the edges...
I might not even get new tape now and might just dispute this with AMEX if BRAD doesn't give a FULL REFUND for a return...
LAST THING i want to happen is spend all this time getting it looking right again, then to have it start peeling off at the edges again in about 2 months after a hot sunny day

I cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol, then pressed fully down very hard and held while peeling off backing slowly... took me like 20 mins of pressing just to be sure...
Lasted for about a month... then started peeling off yesterday after being in the sun all day...
VERY DISSAPOINTED SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS
Just wait another month... if you park your car in the sun, the glue will start to melt and the ends will pry up eventually....
this many people couldnt be wrong, so it must be your parking conditions which have saved from peeling...
here it has been 80-90 degrees everyday

sh*t..don't be cheap..bring it to a body shop and let them use a glue to keep it on..I had that on my BMW..was great, even through the NY Winter last yr...At the end, I had them take it off..simple.

I think the issue is the rigidity of the spoiler in general. That was the first thing I noticed. If you look at higher quality spoilers, they are rather flexible and easy to bend, thus easy to contour to the body being attached to. I don't think it's an issue with the double sided tape.

honestly, i think the quality of the spoiler is very good. how many of you actually have seen, felt a OEM spoiler? I did. trust me... you probably will have the same problem with OEM spoiler if you are having problem now. especially in places with extreme weather conditions.
so, maybe tape isn't your solution. you should just go with glue instead.

but 2 weeks is nothing.. it took a week for the painting for us. plus.. some time to make the spoiler.. i don't think Brad mass produce the spoiler yet.

LMAO at the topic.
my take: BUY AUTHENTIC OR SHUT THE F UP!
don't ever expect replica to not have some fitment issues. a lot of the issues were also because they weren't installed properly. i.e. same AMG replica spoiler me and my friend bought. mine fitted perfect and his flares up on the side.
advise when installing: have two people place and press down on the spoiler OR peel off a small corner of the tape and then place the spoiler on the window before you pull off the tape from underneath.

You add that you don't care about the $5 at all, but it was the principle of using "inferior quality products" that ticked you off. Your subject line on this thread contradicts this.
$35k car, $200 NON OEM rear spoil, and crying over tape? R O F L.
