If the car's computer thinks it is not in motion, maybe some of these safety features will not be active when needed?

Interesting point! Anybody have any more info on this?

not to worry, nothing is disabled: what the vim does is not disable those inputs but rather selectively decides what info to pass on to the command. so when you activate vim your command thinks the car is not moving but everything else in the vehicle still gets the proper data. this can be observed by simply looking at the speedometer which gets its data on the same network.

I got the VIM unit from midcity and proceeded with self installation. The main problem is trying to get the radio back in with the T-harness and VIM module in the way (I don't have IPOD kit). For those of you that succeeded in self installing, can you give detailed information on how you placed the T-harness and VIM module behind the radio to have it all fit in the very tight space? Thanks.

OK, got the radio back in after about 5 hours of experimenting with different placements of the T harness and VIM module. The difficulty was trying to put everything behind the radio and always not fitting. What I ended up doing is finding a space below the radio and inserting the T harness in there, and the VIM module being thinner can sit flat beneath the radio.

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and trying to install the rearview camera, but running into the same problem RLE experienced. When I activate the rearview camera in the engineering menu, nothing happens. I don't get the black screen with the "Check entire surroundings! message when shifting to [R]everse. The System menu does show the option as present and on.

Any hints on what might be missing?

Thanks
