Even MB recognizes it, hence the newer, streamlined, and smaller new mirrors. check out the new GLK, it uses the new 09 mirrors as well.
I only mention it because a previous poster said that its noisy compared to other Mercedes models. Not true. Maybe they changed it for other reasons? I know that Porsche changed its mirrors for 09 because of some European regulation.

I'm not sure what "the hind" might be but you may have failed to notice that the "old" mirrors have the same black plastic at the bottom. All that's changed is the upper part.

Why does some say the mirrors is causing the noise, to me it sounds like the front door windows rather, I hear no diff if mirrors are folded in.

Yeh I took delivery of an 09 350 at the end of January and I got the 08 mirrors that fold.

I'm a huge fan of the folding mirrors so I'm glad they haven't changed them yet for Canadian production. I also got seat memory and the compass in the rearview which I thought was standard on all c's, but apparently they didn't have them before this year.

the first gen are sweet... minus the squeaks and the fact that they are HUGE and have a chrome top part to them .... =p I like the 2nd gen with black. It totally blends in... but I have yet to see them in person, perhaps I'll swing by the dealership and take a gander..

Audi A4 1.9 TDI 2002, MB C200 CDI 2004, MB C220 CDI 2009
I've got my C220 CDI late October 2008 and I have the new type mirrors and they are folding.
I know also the other type and they are squarer indeed but same time they offer better visibility I suppose.
