Quote: how are you all snaking the rca cable from rear to front? is taking the interior trim/carpeting apart required?
Yes, you have to take apart the trunk to wire the camera. Also taking trim molding off the door sills and underneath the glove box to wire to the headunit.

If you haven't bought one yet, then getting the CMOS-200 makes more sense because it is newer. Otherwise, if you already have one installed, you don't have to worry too much about upgrading because you can't really see too much of a difference.

Man I am having a hell of a time finding a fakra cable.. i went to radio shack, Fry's (think costco of electronics) , best buy and a shucks.. and had every single sales person look at my like I was crazy... guess I'll have to suck it up and just order one off ebay and wait for it. Good to see the CMOS-200 will work fine!

Best Buy and ask for a 2008 VW antenna adaptor, cut the Motorola off and solder an RCA on. Easy as pie.

Just order one from Mid City Engineering. They ship quick, got mine a couple days after I ordered it. It's worry-free. It'll work and you'll be happy.

I got the mid city engineering one and it fit perfectly. I don't have to worry about the cable falling out the back of the HU.

Believe it or not, just pull on it or use a wedge to pop it out with some strength. It'll pop out. The sills are teh easiest part.

I got my VIM & Reverse Camera Kit from Mid City. VIM installed and works great, now for the Reverse Camera

Kenwood CMOS-200 Power Wiring Question:

1) You know how you have 2 power sources Needles. A) Reverse Light B) Accessory Power.

After i run everything to the back, where do i run the Accessory Power to? Instruction says to run the power to the Engine Key, but it seems that most people are running the power from somewhere else? Where do i run the power to because it has to be a NON CONSTANT Power Source.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Thanks..

Have had my backup camera installed for a few months now, but have a pesky "check rear right light" error message. Camera works great, but has anyone had a similar problem, or know how to fix this?

the fakra to rca cables you see on ebay are NOT the right ones (I bought one, trust me). If you don't wanna solder, just pay the money to midcity, just make sure they get your address right, they left out a digit in my house number, and it ended up all the way on the other side of town, luckily the guy it got delivered to called the number on the package and it got to me

Just run it to the reverse brake lamp. Power only goes to it when you engage reverse.

Installing mine this weekend. I ordered the cable from ebay even though everyone says its not the right cable since I figured I would just solder it but what they sent me seems like it's a male RCA that looks like a mini RCA female. Hard to explain but I'll post pictures later.
