Smoked Headlights
Curious what you all think of a full smoked version of the headlights. This would be in the form of a protective film and could be clear, light smoked, and dark smoked. I am just looking for some ideas.

The lamin-x film works well but can be difficult to install. If you trim it too small- the film will begin to "shrink" after a month or so. I have learned from experience. I love the way it looks. I have the tint color.

Thats interesting that the Lamin-x shrinks over time. I did not know that. I have been using the another material for several years and never found that it shrinks. The only thing that I wish my material offered is a wider color spectrum of the greys and smoke colors.

They just listed more color options. I think I like the Gunsmoke rather than the Tint. Scroll down for the taillight tints.
The shrinkage issue was my error. I trimmed them too much (1/4" from edge).
Don't let my stupidity dissuade you.

I had all the E55 lighting covered with Clear Shield that has 30% tint to it...It's not too dark but I mainly wanted the debris protection...I was going with clear film but he mentioned he had 30% tint version so I went with that.
It was all custom work (including full hood, full fenders, bumper, and spoiler lip)...It was pretty meticulous work and I'm glad I hired somebody to do it...
The inside parts of the headlights were painted black.

In regards to lamin x, I've seen some images (online) of cars that have them and notice a purple tint to it. So I assume tint would be better but would be thinner and more susceptible to ripping or getting damaged easily from road debris?

I have it done, I didn't have the time to remove my headlights to paint the insides like I usually do so I had them tinted in a smoke tint locally. While there was a darker (black) option, I thought aside from safety reasons the smoke works better and compliments the chrome headlight well. I don't have a image host right now but if you pm my your email I can email you the pic.
